That's what a contributor to the CR Times personally known to many here is reporting, although this contributor's situation may give one pause and he does non really back it up with a source so I'll await further confirmation. If true, not alot tears for alot of reasons on this board other then for the guys that may have paid to join his CR website.

The other Immigration story this morning is the 10 month extension of expired visas for migratory workers to get their papers in order and pay a $100 month extension. But 2 of the e-papers I read this morning loosely lopped expired tourists visas into this new reg.

http://qcostarica.com/edition/2013/10/2 ... 10-months/ Written by a friend to many here, Rico cited LaNacion as his source but I didn't see it there today, so maybe I missed it yesterday.

Also reported by http://www.costaricantimes.com/costa-ri ... ions/21758.

What do the boots on the ground guys think? Are expired tourist visas included? I think probably not. I know Irish would be scouring the Gaceta http://www.gaceta.go.cr/ to see it officially published as the law for the true answer.

Just my opinion!!!

Two reasons they are looking at perpetual tourists
1. Undisirables, we all know who they are...criminals, working without papers, drugs, sex offenders...
2. Health Insurance. Many of the perpetual tourists are retirees and have no health insurance in THIS country. Same as the USA no one wants/can support this group. Many have health insurance in the states that does not cover them here. I can see it as a requirement in the future for stays over 6 months. Correct me if I am wrong but Columbia will only allow a person to stay no more than 6 months in a calendar year on a tourist visa. I believe the USA is the same. It is easy to become a Rentista Pensionado in this Country and YES they want you to participate on the CAJA (there version of health care), The Country is just to small to absorb the uninsured perpetual tourist at this point.

Again just my opinion.

The CR government needs to accept the fact that they are a popular sex tourism destination.

Orange, that won't happen with the present government. But good news, April 2 a new business frindly government will be in place. I expect to see a different outlook ahead.

Never in our lifetime, Orange.

The missionaries screwed that up for us a couple of hundred years ago with their "holier-than-thou" attitudes.

The guy in the pix does not look like the "*******" I know, a younger, not bad looking guy with a few tattoos - the guy behind "Monger Network" or whatever he calls his site - looks like 2 different people -

Well one reasons why I like CR it's not lawless it's just a 80 version of USA law and order. Improves by day and by month. Slow..

Little signs of corruption but law and order..

I feel safer in cr then Newark nj

The guy in the pic is not *******, that's the 400 lb Kirk Owen that was living openly in Jaco though wanted in the states for some other sick sex shit that got him deported him.

Among the recently deported undesirables is the author of the website T*******.com. Immigration police spent several days, visiting known residences and the businesses identified as sponsors on the website. The author of the site, alias ******** disappeared from Costa Rica within a week of becoming a person of interest among immigration authorities. Since his departure the website dedicated to Costa Rica has switched focus to Colombia, in particular MedellĂn.

His 15 minutes of fame came and went. Colombia is not quite as forgiving as CR. I would think twice about "peddling hot dogs" in Medellin. :|

Exactly my experience, which is why I looked and visited CR. In all fairness, a foreigner trying to enter the U.S. has it twice as tough. Welcome to the 21st century.

No the guy in the pic is not ********, that's the 400 lb Kirk Owen the article speaks of that was a convicted Ch*ld abuser living openly in Jaco as a perpetual tourist. Gringo's back home who still had it out for him learned where he was and turned CR on to him as an undesirable. CR agreed, so in addition to a pending CR assault w/ a gun charge in Jaco, arrested and deported him 4,5 months ago--this mug shot shown hit most of the e-papers at that time.

The author should have referenced who was depicted in the foto since he was writing about the deportations of 2 diff people. I am still not convinced ******** was "deported" or just took a "voluntary departure", or left for personal reasons. Have to rely on the author's word, no solid "proof" offered by him, and the author was/is a competitor of ******** which should have been disclosed. So maybe, maybe not. Knowing ********, he'll be babbling soon.

Don't know the guy personally but you don't have to read much of his stuff to get the strong feeling, "Jesu what a jerk!" (no, I won't link but Googling "******* in Costa Rica" will get you there). Doubtless lots of folks are thinking "Good riddance to bad rubbish". He has a particular animus towards Admin3.
