I logged in and read 2 posts today. I used to read a lot of them. I want to read, but I don't have the patience. I am just too disgusted with the spinning circle and "waiting for costaricaticas.com". Lost |

For me, no diff in speed other then the occasional (1 or 2x a week) "used" message on a blank screen which I have never seen on any surf. I'll leave it to the tech guys. |

I thought maybe the CRT website was being hosted in Costa Rica and the distance across water was explaining the problem. I have 30mbps internet service and the entire website is too slow to bother reading even text. The CRT website is apparently being hosted on a server located in the Detroit Mich area - so slow it must be hosted on the new owners home based server. ![]() I retract my earlier accusation that CRT was now owned by techies who don't understand or have any appreciation for mongers. Any techie would be ashamed of the incompetent job that has been done since taking over the CRT website. I appologize to the techies out there since these guys are just obviously clueless dudes who are in way over their heads. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I agree this site is PHUCKING SLOW!!!! I also have become so frustrated with the speed of this forum that I rarely visit it anymore. I'm a member of several other forums on other subjects and the difference in download speed is noticeably quicker on other forums. I hope the new admin figures this out soon. I really used to enjoy this forum. Lately between the lack of posts and slowness I'm surfing elsewhere. I bet if the speed gets back to normal the posting and traffic will slowly return. Several lurkers I know have expressed the same to me as well. Simple posts that only include text shouldn't have a delay in viewing. |

Where are the other venues? Perhaps that is where all the old informed and interesting posters have migrated to. If anyone has any relevant info please PM me. THX tuanis |

A lot of the old posters are gone because CRT is not well-suited for sharing sensitive info (allows VIP access to the chicas, ineffective/barely-existent moderation of the forums). Plus, as the more experienced guys already know their way around like the back of their hand and have all the connections they really need, the forums are less and less relevant or necessary except as a means to share their knowledge. And as I can tell you first hand, when it comes to sharing knowledge...all it takes is for a few knuckleheads who have just a couple of trips under their belts, or never stray far from the Gringo nest, never meet the locals or learn the culture...to argue with you on stuff they know nothing about...based on their several days' experience in country to make you wanna say, "alright then you ungrateful fucks, figure it out for yourselves." I'm nearly to that point of saying adios to CRT for these above reasons. There is next to no return on investment for me anymore. |

VinceThePrince wrote: There is next to no return on investment for me anymore. I think that I paid $79 for a lifetime membership when the site first started. With discounts, have been paid back many, many times. With entertainment for a lifetime (10 + years now), my investment is priceless. We have seen disruptions in the forum before but not based on change of ownership. Many left in the past for different reasons. IMHO, if you are not a member, your return on investment infinity as you have no money or skin in the game. IMHO, if you are a lifetime member, you got the deal of the century as, knock on word, you will be able to retrieve memories of the past by simply reading youR old postings and looking at the pictures. One picture is worth a thousand words or, perhaps, memories. However, those who become yearly members are not being served well at all UNLESS they use the card for discounts Only and could not care less about a forum. To them, it is about the money. ID would be a good one to ask this. Think about the business model here. How many memberships would they need to pay all the bills including return on investment and income? I believe that they absolutely need the advertisers first and the forum a far second, if at all. Seems like a reasonable business man would concentrate on the first item to set the foundation of the second. Seems proof of this would be selling of membership cards as discount cards in San Jose. For me, I am content. I hope to live the next 30 years or so always being able to access memories and do not have to pay another dollar. Life has its up and downs and I can handle this little down until the tide turns positive for the board as it has in the past. Just my thoughts. Have a Great Day, Dave |

The CRT website used to "the gold standard" in terms of speed for me. Now it drags and often prompts me to log in every day. Tomas had CRT working great for years so I wonder what changed? Devo |
