Post subject: | A CRT brother has passes away |
It is with great sadness that I announce that one of our brothers, John, Irish Drifter, has passed away with advance Leukemia yesterday. He was very active on the CRT board but you might have notice that his post have been missing for the past few months. I had the honor of taking him to the airport a few weeks ago less than a month ago. He was going back home to seek treatment of an unknown illness. I only got to know John on a personal level a few months ago. I had time to visit with him though another CRT brother, which I am greatly appreciative. I knew him as a great guy with an intellect like no other. It's truly a sad day in Costa Rica. My thought and prayers are with John and his family. We are all gonna miss you my friend. |

Thanks for the info. He was anal retentive as can be, but his info was usually spot on. I think that's what rubbed people the wrong way, that he was usually right, and they could get one up on him. From what I heard, he was a nice guy. Condolences to his family and friends. I noticed yesterday that he hadn't posted in a while, so I looked him up and if I remember his last post was Aug 17th. RIP ID! |

John Moran was very active in the local Veterans groups, I saw him last at a Memorial Day picnic in Santa Ana, he was feeling lousy but came to pitch in anyways. A few days later he went to a CAJA hospital where they couldn't help him, later he decided to go to the states for tx. I know his landlord, from what I understand whatever he had here he is leaving to the Vets. RIP John. |

[quote="Orange"] I noticed yesterday that he hadn't posted in a while, so I looked him up and if I remember his last post was Aug 19th, exactly 1 month ago. You know Brother Orange, you never get to really know a guy buy just trading jabs over a forum. We certainly has our disagreements as well. But when I met the person, I knew John was a genuine soul. Good guy through and through. Gonna be missed on CRT for sure. |

11,374 post to CRT. If there is ever a CRT Hall of Fame, I nominate I.D. to the first class. Here's hoping your Hurricanes do well this year but not as good as my Seminoles, and here's hoping you Dodger go far but not as far as my Braves. R.I.P. John. |

Rest in peace ID. Thanks for all your postings and thoughts over the years. Was fun debating with you on occasions. More often than not, I agreed with your positions but could not express them so succinctly and eloquently. It has been a pleasure. |

One of the -- if not THE -- most intelligent, articulate, opinionated, and just plain interesting posters on CRT. I regret not having met him IRL. Go with God, ID. You will be missed, but our loss is the Good Lord's gain. mh |

On July 2 a debate was going on within the board about CR hospital care, to which he added: "Last Tuesday I was discharged from a CAJA hospital after being there for 26 days. The level of tests, treatment and care I received was superb. My family in the states, which includes 3 MD's, felt the same way I do. Can not vouch for all CAJA facilities same as in the states can not rate every hospital as doing a good job. For those paying exorbitant hospilation premiums in the states my CAJA membership is $59.00 a month. When I left the hospital after 26 days 2 ct scans, untold xrays, IV's. blood tests as well as 3 diffrent more exoctic test procedures I left the hospital without anyone asking me for one colon." So the old man, and he was old--not that it doesn't not come to us all--but he was alot older then his posts would lead you to think, knew he was going home last month. I'll remember ID most for keeping one CR hater in check, and pointedly so, the poster that speaks in his own goofy language that sounds sensical and based on experience, but really is all non-sensical anti CR drivel. The one that nobody has ever met in person. ID left no doubt about his feelings about this guy. Thank you for that, and hopefully someone will pick up your torch. You will be missed on CRT. |

I meet ID on my first trip to CR, he was at the bar at the SL. El S introduced us, I had a nice long convo with him and a "few" drinks. I spotted him later that night at Key Largo sitting at the bar with the hottest chick, to this day, I have ever seen in CR. His wit, sarcasm and wealth of knowledge about CR will be missed. RIP Regards, 911 Driver |
