Grettings from the Original Lurker, After a 4 year hiatus, I will be returning to CR from Oct. 3 to Oct. 8 to celebrate my wingman's 50th birthday. I have >20 trips under my belt, so I am well versed in the game, but deffinately rusty on the latest. I started going to CR just before this board started and became friends with some great guys through this forum. Back in the day, I was a frequent poster here, but my chica drama got to be too much, and I sort of lost my coveted anonymity in SJ, so I took down most of posts and went back to being a lurker. I have a few questions for my brothers, I know that I could do my own research, but I am hoping that one of my old croonies (or a new one) could save me the time. Pricing - Is the typical "asking" price at the HDR still 100? I don't want to get into a debate on pricing, as I know that a lot of people have strong opinions on this topic, but has pricing changed substantially in the the last few years? Hotel Rooms - I am staying at my favorite frat house, the Sportsmen's Lodge. I have stayed there many times, but am lost on the new room descriptions. Rooms use to be referred to as the Old Section (courtyard), and the New Section. It sounds like they have added something called the Mansion Wing, or renamed the new section that is not so new anymore. What is the difference between the Modern Wing and the Mansion Wing? Preferences? Anything else that I should know after a 4 year hibernation? I hope to tip a beer with anyone from the board that is in town in early October. You can find me most evenings sitting at the back bar in the Key Largo. I will be the gringo with an Imperial in one hand, a Tica on my arm, and a shit-eating grin on my face. Pura Vida. The Lurker |

Welcome back Lurker. 4 years, wow!!! Not much has change in 4 years except, the streets are better paved and more police in uniforms patrolling, so walking around is safer. D.R. chicas still start at $cien as they did 10 years ago but due to the economy, $50-$80 is the norm. Can't get much better than the Sportsmen, my favorite hangout and it's where all my friends go. The mansion wing is still the best but you will see great improvement from 4 years ago. Let me know when you are due to arrive and I will gladly buy you a beer or 3. |

Welcome back!! You are correct on the prices being asked but they usually will accept less unless your a kinky bastard. ![]() ![]() On the SL question, the Modern wing are the rooms that were added behind SL in 2006 or so and are the 'New Wing' you referred to. The Mansion Wing rooms are in the mansion (house) that is behind SL. The best rooms now are in the Mansion wing and are VERY nice. Only room in the place that can compete with the Mansion Wing rooms is the Penthouse. Hope you have a great homecoming!!! |

Kinky? That is a matter of opinion. For example, on my wingman's 50th Birthday, I am planning on giving him a "Lilliput". He is 6'5", 250 lbs, so I am planning on hiring 7 or 8 of the smallest chicas that I can find, and instructing them to disrobe, then tie my friend down by stinging ropes across his body. He can then break free, get up, and with a roar, chase all of the little chicas around the room. Is that considered kinky? Guess I should bring some extra Colones. |

Hey, The Lurker (always loved your crt handle) seem to remember hangin with ya a bit many yrs ago at the DR, think it was when Hans Solo was around. As for your questions, ya most of the chix will still ask for $100 but most will come down rapidly. The Mansion section is further back from the bar than the modern section @ the SL. Bigger, posher rooms than the modern section might be worth the extra $ to ya. Bienvenidos de regreso! |

Welcome back - I'll make some comments inred below; you are asking some great questions, and it can be helpful not only to you but to others to have them answered - I'm a pretty direct guy, so know from the start the welcome is real, and zero malice in my answers/comments ![]() ![]() ![]() I love to see guys getting back to CR, and hope you have a great trip, and it becomes a regular thing with you again ![]() ![]() ![]() TheLurker wrote: Grettings from the Original Lurker,

Again, you are raising good issues, and while the standard response on the board a few years ago was "Do a search", I don't think that's the case today. However.....Most of us skipped school the day they taught mind reading - the only way any of us would know about your "chica drama" is if you post it - period. Don't post what you don't want others to know about - it amazes me that guys post all, and then get upset when a) other guys comment about it on a public message board board b) the posts end up - for a variety of reasons - upsetting them. I've been a VIP member for 6 years, and don't recall your posts, but if the drama was with a working girl, hopefully you know better. Besides, we had a thread from a poster called "Rolltide" and no chica drama is ever possible to top his.....I mean with the <possible> exception of how many millimeters her cunt opening was, this guy posted EVERYTHING ![]() ![]() ![]() Pricing - Is the typical "asking" price at the HDR still 100? I don't want to get into a debate on pricing, as I know that a lot of people have strong opinions on this topic, but has pricing changed substantially in the the last few years? If a working girl - a chica, not a "tica" - we will get to that soon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lots better venues than the HDR and the KL - Sportsmans has really come into its own, Zona Blue - now HLH, Relax, 360 and other massage parlors are really great - you don't have to rely on HDR - sit at the bar @ Sportsmans, speak with someone with some experience and a clue and they can guide you - Hotel Rooms - I am staying at my favorite frat house, the Sportsmen's Lodge. Can't help you here - been to the Sportsmans many times but never stayed there Anything else that I should know after a 4 year hibernation? With the exception of a lot more guys venturing out to the MP's, I don't think you will see a lot of changes; tourism is down, you are going in off season, so you should be able to get favorable pricing treatment. One thing that has not changed is that "tica" is still a term for Costa Rican female, not another catch all to mean prostitute ![]() ![]() ![]() I hope to tip a beer with anyone from the board that is in town in early October. You can find me most evenings sitting at the back bar in the Key Largo. I will be the gringo with an Imperial in one hand, a Tica on my arm, and a shit-eating grin on my face. Addressed above - if you meant that you are only interested in female Costa Ricans - and you will never convince me that's the case ![]() ![]() Pura Vida. The Lurker |

Hey SinCity, I deffinately remember your handle, and would probably remember your face, but putting the two together is a challenge for me right now. Probably the early onset of dementia. Yea, Handy was one of my main running buddies, he went off and married a really sweet Colombian girl, smart man, at least he didn't marry a gringa. Thanks for the info. It sounds like pricing really hasn't changed in the last 10 years, though I notice that the dollar has appreciated vs. the Colone, so that probably helps. I choose to get a suite in the Mansion section and another room in the modern wing. Really, I'm ok with any room at the SL, just prefer the quieter corners to let me sleep off my hangovers. Scuba1, Thanks so much for the vocabulary lesson, and to think that all of this time I thought that the CR National Soccer team were a bunch of Male Prostitutes ![]() |

The search engine does not seem to be as "powerful" or "functional" as it once was. That is my experience as of late... |
