Anybody have any information about the raid today at HLH? I was about to drop in but the place was swarming with OIJ agents. I saw boxes of cigars being bagged as evidence also. I came back a few hours later and it was still going on, so maybe serious, I don't know? |

It was all about the cigar shop. It's unfortunate that Bruce had a major problem. The rest of the HLH operation is a separate entity from the cigar shop and was unaffected by the raid (no evidence of wrongdoing). |

The hotel on its Web site said that employees were prohibited from meeting guests at locations other than the hotel, suggesting that at least some of the women were employed there. there are going to look for anything they can to bring this business model to its knees. so when guys complain about lack of enthusiasm or tips or hours etc. realize that HLH does not employ any of these women making it impossible for them to control anything they do. is what it is. |

Those amcostarica links are old and not related to their current situation I would think. |

Today's raid at not only at cigar shop owned by Wiseash. They had raided several other cigar shops in San Jose and outside of San Jose as well. We hope to keep the same great business relationship we have had with him in the future as well. As for the article, it is a very old article from 3/26/10. Not sure why this was posted here. Besides, we don't have any administrative employee who is 49yo. Only the maids are over 40. ![]() |

HLH is back to normal this morning. The cigar shop is open for business. I was at HLH during the raid yesterday, which was connected to some big lawsuit about the San Jose cigar business Only the cigar shop was involved. Come see Bruce for a good selection of cigars. His dedication to your needs deserves your business. |

I'm not a cigar guy, but I doubt that Bruce sells counterfeit "anything." He has a good reputation to preserve. The raid was not about fake product. |

I haven't talked with my English speaking attorney, so my comments are limited.Yesterday, a news camerman showed up before the police. The police had a court order to seize certain brands of cigars. The order covered various locations all over CR. The company that filed the complaint was a Cuban distributor, Habanos SA in CR. My cigars that I purchased from them were paid for at time of delivery and confiscated yesterday. FYI the action was carried out by the OIJ. The CR version of FBI, DEA combined. I has 9 agents in my shop for 5+ hours. Not knowing what was going on, and why the OIJ was their in great force was an interesting moment in my life. Business as normal today |

I guess the reason they could not raid the HLH bar & massage area is that "NOTHING" was going on. Thats the same that I saw happening the last time I was in HLH - NOTHING! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Lennydo, I'm not sure when you visited our establishment, but thank you much for your feedback. We are in the middle of changing a lot of things at the bar/girls etc. As you may know already about Costa Rica in general, we have to pick our battles especially with girls. We had eight girls yesterday at HLH. The reason why they did not raid our hotel was because they were after Cigar shops as mentioned on this thread neumorous times, and not hotel/bar. The raid was also mentioned in AM Costa Rica as well. Again, thank you for your feedback and we will reinforce having girls at the bar instead of other areas of our hotel. Dice |
