Anybody have knowledge of how much for a lady to get fixed at one of the private hospitals? Any doc recommendations?

If it doesn't need to be permanent, look into implanon. It is a small rod they put in the arm and prevents pregnancy for 3-10 years. It is much less invasive than tying tubes.

In our case the doctor was quite adamant because of her age (36) that he did not want to go that route. Safety being a primary concern. He recommended an IUD (Te Cobre or copper "T"). Cost is $800 at our doctor & it's good for at least 5 years. Needs to be inserted just after she starts her period so that the cervix is opened.

Thanks to your tips, I found Dr Fournier, private clinic with privileges at several of the Hospitals including CIMA, the godfather of the OB-GYN's in CR, about 75 years old but still looks great, US Board certified. In fact the only one that I found that was US OB-GYN board certified.
