They have never said anything to me about what I have purchased. SJO has a duty free store in baggage claim, it's great. Last time I got 4 liters of Grey Goose for $112.00. I have seen some of the Taca pilots leaving there almost needing a dolly to carry out all their booze, I don't think anyone gives a damn really but I am sure there is some sort of limit.

Limit is 5 liters but have never seen it enforced. That does not mean it is not I just have never witnessed anyone carrying obviously more the 5 liters hassled.

The 5 liters is coming into CR. U.S. law is much more restrictive about how much you can bring into the U.S. and enforcement is more diligent.

I have purchased more than a case of Flor de Caña at the duty free in baggage claim on more than one occasion and have not had any problems.
