A tico thought that the U-tube "SJ from Above" view that was posted by Irish D last week was too idyllic. So, he produced his own 5 minute movie and also posted it on You tube, SJ from the Ground.

It defintely shows the crummy side of SJ.

i didn't look at the video but when someone once posted a picture from a hilltop of the philippines and spoke to how beautiful the country was, all i could think to add was that from afar any place looks great.

the video ID posted, whoever made it, putting that romantic music to it surely was trying to say look at Hawaii (that's my opinion). no offense to ID, i like flyovers.

same applies to the worst parts of LA.. Oakland... Philly... and third world city look-alikes like Baltimore. on the ground, a hell of a lot of places in america are no better than sj. one difference though between being in a third world country with all of its crumbling infrastructure and being in look-alike baltimore is that i feel like i'm in grave danger even in daylight in baltimore and so i get the hell out of there as soon as i can. i don't mind the crumbling as long as i feel safe.

Phils is quite scary in places, no question. As you say D2864, lots of places can look bad close up.

Funny thing, I recently watched "Hotel Rwanda" for the first time a couple of days ago & some of the backgrounds reminded me quite a bit of San Jose.

No offense taken. I posted it because I felt guys might find it interesting trying to ID areas and buildings they are familiar with.

As I stated it showed the good and bad sides of San Jose, admittedly much heavier on the good side but did include a shot of the tin roof shacks above a river. The ground video was the opposite showing a few good shots but focusing on the negative side.

If you took a flyover of Miami and focused on Brickell ave, the Roads and Morningside you would get a completely different perspective then a ground video of Overtown, Liberty City and parts of downtown. Just the realities of a big city which all have some haves and some have nots.
