In CR, prepago is synonymous with prepaid cell phone service.

In Colombia, so the link/article below states, prepago is slang for puta because of the way many of them supposedly demand payment up front. The Medellin guys on this board can chime in if that's generally true.

"La Prepago" is an award winning Colombian soap produced by Sony that now plays on CR local tv channel 7 nightly at 10pm (moved from 9pm because somebody objected it was teaching the younger ones too soon). It's about an ambitious "good girl" forced into a double life of prostitution for financial reasons.

So, just what we need, a novela teaching the CR chicas how to demand dinero up front. I don't know when it started running on TV, but it seems like an unusual number of "prepago" complaints recently on this board. Anyway, I expect more demands for "prepago" in CR.

As an aside, Qcostarica, the source of the link above, the new epaper in CR, is a very, very good daily produced by the same gent that many of you know, he formerly owned Inside CR. It's much better then his former Inside CR. The new owners of Inside CR seem to be having severe problems getting a regular, reliable schedule although I still check it out.

I never paid upfront when i visited Colombia, never had problems about it either.
IMO it is another of TV,film I think it is is a good idea for the story weather it is true or not.

Quite to the contrary, I've never heard of a Medellin prepago asking for money up front. They don't even like to discuss their fee in my experience, when I ask about it they dismiss the subject with a wave and a "tranquilo amor" or a "cualquiera lo que quieres". I offer what i think is fair afterward and I'm no chichipato but only once has a girl asked me for a little more money.

Some of the casas want the money up front but my favorite (New Life) charges you after you're done depending on the time you spent with your chica.

I agree, it's very rare for a Paisa to ask for money up front. In fact, quite often they never even look at it until they are out the door. Maybe it's a "Rolo" (Bogota) thing?

Thanks for posting that DGD and for the clip with the English translation GoodToGo. I don't watch much TV, but that's a show I might test myself on.

I just watched the trailer linked above. You can see in the 5 minute clip that it is Hollywood quality production. The episode in the trailer was the star of the show, and she is hot,banging a much older Senator and then bang he.....I won't ruin it for you. There are supposed to be 120 episodes or something like that? If only half of the Colombiana's workers are close to that hot I can why so many guys go.

And that's on a local TV channel in CR? W-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o Nelly! I predict a much more $$$ sophisticated class of chica's emerging in the gulch in 2013-14.
