I heard around town that an elderly gent (81 years) walked into the Little Havana Cigar Shop and was TOLD to leave because he was smoking a cigar which was not purchased there.....

I'd be very surprised if it was true, unless the old guy was drunk.

Bruce is too nice of a guy to do that merely for the reason given.

Besides, it would be bad for business. I don't do cigars, but I know that Bruce is not a dumb gringo.

Reminds me of the time when I was a dopey teenager. Was sitting at the dining room table with my mother and father and younger sister. My sister said something to which I responded "Boy..she sure is D U M (I spelled the word out rather than say the word since she was only about 7 years old then). My father looked at me and replied "Well if she's D U M (he too spelled it out) then you sure are D U M B!". Stupid me I guess...:)

I heard the same crazy dude went into La Esquina Steak House and brought in his own ribeye and bottle of vodka...and they had the NERVE to ask him to leave. What has happened to these greedy CR business owners??
     :!: :!:

Bruce (owner of the cigar shop at HLH) is certainly free to answer himself, but I was under the impression that his policy is, if you did not buy it there, you were not entitled to smoke it there.

This is a policy that many, many cigar shops have - and if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense - unless they are unlicenced for liquor, you would not bring your own beer, wine or booze into a bar or res't, nor would you bring your own food into said establishments - why should a cigar shop - especially a smaller one with limited seating have a different policy - I have a very well stocked humidor, and consider Bruce a friend, but I would not bring my own cigar(s) into his place and expect to smoke it there.

but it may be different if you walked in for the first time and wanted to check out the place to see if they have anything you may be interested in purchasing at a later time

you not need be a jeanus to figure out that you wouldn't be allowed to always show up with your own cigars and just take up space

A couple of points:

I'm talking about someone with a cigar not purchased there - in reponse to your post - expecting to stay and smoke - not to beat it to death but this is against policy in most cigar shops - and looks like it is at the one in HLH

Since we were not there, maybe Bruce could give us the story from his perspective - otherwise, we are engaging in mental masturbation

Bruce is a polite guy, so I doubt he just saw a guy with a cigar not purchased there and threw him out - but until he answers - I know he reads CRT - we will not know form his perspective what the story is - Hey Bruce....your phone is ringing!

PS you not need be a jeanus to figure out that you wouldn't be allowed to always show up with your own cigars and just take up space[/quote]

Don't count on it    .....I've spent enough time in cigar shops to tell you with certainty that the reason they instituted the "didn't buy it here, don't smoke it here" policy is exactly because some guys don't get it!

kicking out ultra senior citizen- 81 years old is just heartless. He would've came back to buy or smoke more, next time . :(

(Twice my age and smoking cigars ? I need to start smoking too . Would be lucky to live that long ..Though my parents are in their mid 70s so I have some chance there..)

I have a lot of customers who browse the humidor and return later. If you need a place to rest up, I am not a rest home. Offensive behavior, like hustling etc. is not allowed. Scammers are not allowed. On my window are rules that are plainly written.
If you want a good cigar, huge selection and good prices, I am the place.
I did not respond before, because I try to avoid ignorant posters. Not saying Mr. Potatoe (sp) Head is stupid, that is for my CRT brothers to decide.
I truly appreciate all of my good CRT customers and friends.

Respect the fact that Bruce responded.

And yes, cigars are great!

"Did you see that old schnorrer trying to sneak that smoke in here?"
"That was no schnorrer, That was the Cohiba Rep!"
"The Cohiba Rep? What the cunting hell was he doing here?"
"Looking for some green plantains I guess."

Bull f.u.c.k.ingShit, 'Bario - sorry, but its true

The reason I'm responding this way is don't let a little harmless repartee get in the way of the fact that I - for one - responded in a civil, knowledgable way about what goes on at cigar shops - the fact that I was busting Floridadonors chops should not cancel out the fact that CRBound got a serious answer to his post.

I honestly think some of those who bitch about what's posted today, "conviently" forget all the bullshit this board was known for just a few years back - ask a question? - be prepared to have the first responses be "do a search" and prepare to have your balls busted for being so stupid to ask such a question in the first place. Or have every thread turn into some one getting phucked up the ass.....

Trust me - I was a member and read the board for years before I started posting - without any personal malice <honestly :) >, I would say to you and others who feel the way you do - you are entitled to your feelings but not to your own set of facts - the board of a few years ago was truly not all that great - nor as civil as some remember it.
