Aside from Mas x Menos in downtown SJ. Were are the stores that sell beer/liquor?

Limited beer / wine / liquor available at the AM / PM stores. There is one a block from the DR.

Hey El Ornitorrinco, I admit I've been 'brain washed' over the years Remember the good old days of "The Brewers Retail"

What time does a typical AM / PM type store must stop selling at?

If you find that store, make sure you there after 8 am because the stupid phucking law here says they can not sell beer before 8 am, how phucking stupid is that?

I find the 'after midnight/before 8am' rule less offensive than I did the old 'no Sunday sales' in Georgia.

This rule, I guess, is supposed to curb binge drinkers that could drink all night and cause problems. As a former heavy drinker, I know anything that slowed me down was not a bad thing.

But the 'no Sunday sales' rule in Georgia used to really get under my skin. This was forcing religion down peoples throat on the one day that many had off work.
It was really ridiculous. People were on the way to the lake and couldn't pick up a case of beer. I noticed the last time I was there that they changed this law. Good for them.

I think they changed the law so that now it can be put on the ballot so the residents of a municipality, township, etc can vote yes or no on Sanday sales. I have a friend who lived just south of Atlanta until a few months ago, and she had to vote last year to allow Sunday sales.

In Ontario we have had Sunday beer/liquor stores open since the 1990s.
In the province of Saskatchewan they have "off sales" at the bars, were you can buy a box of beer and take it with you.

Yeah, but in fairness, what else is there to do in Saskatchewan but drink? Watch the Riders, I guess?

Arriving, I usually bring in a few bottles of high end vodka from SJ airport Duty Free shop. Really cheap compared to US prices due to shedding of all the various taxes. Grey Goose, Stoly's, etc.

Never really priced high end vodka in SJ, I just assumed that there is a significant savings buying duty free and bringing it in. Knowing CR booze isn't top heavy with gringo liquor taxes, is there a significant savings worth lugging the stuff from the airport when I am already over loaded with luggage and stuff?
