Looking to take my first trip to CR with a few buddies in beginning of Feb. Please give any advice possible. We want to experience all the CR has to offer. Looking to stay by/at the beach but don't know which area is best for water sports, hiking, tours, close to airport and of course ticas. Any advice would be great.

If surfing is #1 priority, go to Jaco Beach. If Ticas are #1, stay in San Jose at The Presidente, the Delray or last the Morazon. From these you can do day trips to the volcano or white water rafting. You could probably get to Quepos & hike in Manuel Antonio Park.
You can pretty much book anything from the Delray but one walk thru the bar at the Delray at night, and all plans might get cancelled. Hang loose---very loose.
There will be a lot of CRT guys there then. Meet them 5-6 pm at the Delray bar tables near the windows-just say CRT. You might find several guys wanting to do different things so relax and enjoy the Ticas.
Just remember "NO CIEN"

Welcome Spike
The best advice I can give is to spend every spare moment reading this board. You will learn more from the guys here than you could find out for yourself in a six month stay.
As SBum says -go to the Blue Marlin any day around 5pm for the CRT Happy Hour Gang. They will be happy to steer you straight.
Have fun and dont forget to post a trip report.
