Hey we all enjoy the women. I'm definately no exception. I've been going to CR since 1998 and next week will be my twenty eigth trip.

Over the years I think I've done just about all there is to do in CR. The tica girlfriend, the whores, the beach, the house in Escazu, the casinos, the restaurants, business, etc. etc. It's been a lot of fun. However, without a doubt the most beneficial thing I have done while in CR is repeatedly taking time to reflect on my life and writing down on paper what I still want for myself, my daughter, my business, etc.

While you are in CR I highly recommend everyone take some time to reflect on your life. After you have spent a couple of days playing and when you have some privacy get a piece of paper and write down what you would like to still accomplish in your lifetime. I can't tell you how powerful it is to do this. Being thousands of miles away from home in a foreign country has a way of making the intuitive thoughts and ideas flow.

Thanks, G, for the Zen shit. I agree completely. If nothing else, it slows down time when you write and at this stage, that's not a bad thing. Also, a little "focus" now and then pays big dividends.

I know there's more to life than phucking, and someday maybe I'll know what it is (lol). As far as relationships, it always comes down to commitment, or lack thereof. Of course, talking about commitment on this board is a hysterical notion.

As far as what yet to "accomplish," that's very personal. Of course, accomplishment doesn't ensure happiness. John Coltrane died at 41 of liver rot because he drank a fifth a day and shot up. Yet he never quit accomplishing, and created an astonishing body of work with a focus that was fierce.

What you seem to be hinting at is the "emptiness" one may feel if only recreating and not producing. Like beavers (you know what I mean), we're hard-wired to work. Ingmar Bergman's thesis mankind "killed" god when he made life so easy and no longer enjoyed the peace associated with the struggle to survive, is a good one. No wonder we have the luxury to sit around and worry; we've made it possible.

I'll be bringing my pad and pencil next trip.

Jazz

Wow.
And although guilty myself, I know people that LIVE to worry, they manufacture their own misery and just can't see it.

Guaroking- although I couldn't resist the chance to get in a cheap shot at Texcdn,
I do know of what you speak as being in CR away from the madness back home is a great opportunity to reflect and take advantage of a different perspective on life.

I have done this reflecting from afar many times. First I escaped to Mexico in the early 90s for 3 years of "reflecting"...which truly changed many perspectives in my life. Then I went back to USA for 6-7 yrs to reflect on my expat experience. Then I moved to Costa Rica going on 3 yrs ago to once again escape the pressure cooker of US culture and reflect some more. Now I need to move to Panama to reflect objectively on my life in Costa Rica  .

Actually it comes down to one of my favorite sayings..."wherever you go...there you are". It just seems some places are easier for living than others. But then again one must define "living" for oneself. Jeesh...I should have been a philosopher  .

Agreed. Every year I write down 10 things I want to do in the new year (see Prague, get a hair transplant, etc) and throw it in my top drawer.

At the end of 12 months I'm amazed how many of those desires get accomplished and I rarely look at the list during the year. The subconscious is very powerful.

Jazz M great post damn I learned 3 or 4 things from your single paragraph lol.

YO Reflecting Renegades:

Damn, next thing, all of you will be going to a mountain monestary to find the "answer" to life.

I've reflected since I jacked off in the 4th grade and you know what? No matter how much you reflect.......things change so much as you live that reflection is a lost cause. Actually, that so called "reflection" is a procrastinant crutch we use to convince ourselves that we just need more time to achieve our so called inevitable success..........NOT. If one reflects instead of directs........he will be in reflection forever.

15-16 hrs RT at 35K feet in the air gives me plenty of time to reflect , not where i'm going , but where i've been. Airplane food sucks , no reflecting needed there....
