A tico told me a CR corporation can have one. True?

From another forum.

My husband just bought a GAMO 177 caliber air powered pellet gun a couple of months ago. The gun is made in Barcelona, Spain. There are NO restrictions as to who can buy an air pistol or rifle in Costa Rica. It was purchased at the gun store in Multiplaza and they didn't even ask to see his cedula, just his money.

I know several other foreigners who have air rifles. I suspect they are legal, but do not know for sure. In either case I would not recommend walking around with it and keep it at home. I would sure hate to defend against a armed home invasion with an air rifle. Normally the thugs have shotguns and pistols.

With theCR restrictions now days a firearm is hard to come by or be in big trouble if you have to use one. sure a pellet gun sounds pretty wimpy. The new pellet guns are a far cry from those in the past. My Ruger 177 caliber shoots at 1200 ft per sec. and with the hot loads it shoots at 1400 ft per sec. You can easily kill a person with one of these. Only an idiot would go walking around with any firearm out in the open. Sure Doubt that i would ever be able to bring my 454Casull or my Marlin 45-70 to CR.

I don't need a Glock and I don't buy stolen items. Just in case anyone should wonder.

LEOs = idiots, by this logic. And hey don't give out with "Aw, man, you know what I mean." 'Cuz all we know is what you say explicitly. Now, I abso-fucking-lutely agree that any civilian that walks around with an exposed firearm is beyond stupid--not least because a rooftop shooter or brickthrower can pick you off so his bud can slide around the building and do further damage.

BTW, that Ruger Air Hawk is one nifty piece--see YouTube for details--any air pistols (i.e. short-range but not intimate weapons) you'd care to mention?

I have talked to several people about guns. I think you should buy an air gun for its intended purpose. Shooting varmints and very small game.
If you draw one of those, and they have a shotgun, you are dead. They WILL SHOOT. I'm thinking on nice Mossberg model to defend my home. I would love to be able to just walk into Walmart and buy one. However, the Walmarts here have high powered water pistols.

Then I suggest you be proficient at escape and evasion, and do it immediately after firing.
