OK, I know asking for exact dental info is a touchy subject so I will go general on this. But if you want to PM me, I'd appreciate any specifics I could get.

My dentist is strongly urging me to get Invisalign for a tooth that will cause problems the longer I let it go. Does anyone have any info as far as getting Invisalign done in CR? Even with my insurance, it still costs a pretty penny up here. I'm coming back down in the fall but don't want to spend extra time at the dentist office if it isn't worth it. I see Esthetic 90210 does Invisalign.

I also mentioned it to the dental tech I was thinking about trying to get it done in CR and she said it might be difficult as some times adjustments are necessary.

I also need to get a crown done up here which will run me about $400 with my insurance.

Thanks in advance.

Last time i was at dentist in costa rica, told you would need a week for a crown work...i think i was quoted $175 for a crown ...only there three day's so they filled the tooth edge with filler and that was about a year ago and is very good still..so no need for a crown as yet...the other is cosmetic..invisible braces....

My last crown (last month) at Esthetic Dental (90210) was $350. You can get it done (easily) in 3 days. Day one is prep & build-up, then on to the lab down the hall (quite impressive). Day two for lab work. Day 3 to install. So a Mon-Wed, Tue-Thurs or Wed-Fri works just fine.

Can't comment on the braces as I had mine 45 years ago.....

My last crown was done in a few hours (in the states) surprised 90210 doesn't yet have this technology. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Is5Ie76-38

My experience with the "in a few hours" crowns has been very poor. Yea, it only takes about a half hour for the 3-D laser modeling of the tooth & the manipulation in the program then another 45 minutes to cut the crown and you're pretty much done. But I've have three out of three of those fail on me in the year before I changed my dentist to Nathalie (@ Esthetic/90210). Always seemed to be a "I guess it was too thin in one spot" reasoning. Two were replaced free. I paid again for the last one & that was what put me over the line.

Bottom line - YMMV; I'm quite happy with my dentist, my dental office and the lab in San Jose & have no interest in returning to my dentist of 32 years in the USA. In my case the new technology did not live up to the quality of the tried-and-true.

Thanks for the replies...with the $350 quoted above and the less than stellar reviews, I think I will just stick with my dentist and pay up a little bit more to have the work done a few miles from my home.

I just had a crap ton of dental work at Esthetic Dental in mid April. Implants, bone grafts, extractions, Periodontal surgery in four quadrants, some crowns, and a few bridges. No invisalign, but I highly recommend them. My Dentist was Dr. Yelda Fernandez, My implants, extractions surgeries were all done by specialists. I had the best care and chair side manor from all who did anything in my mouth that I have ever experienced in any dental office. I will be going back around October or November when my implants and grafts are all set. If I recall correctly the $350.00 quote for a crown is the walk in price. If you show them your crt card crowns are 100 dollars cheaper. I saved a bunch on those alone, so 39.00 price for the card was a bargain, not to mention some savings at HLH :D

I had invisalign here in the states two years ago. Cost was 4500 and none of it was covered by insurance. Just like braces need to be tightened/adjusted every so often, invisalign trays must be switched as your teeth come closer together or move. Every two weeks in the beginning for about a month if I remember correctly and then every month for about a year. My gaps were closed but I still needed a small amount of bonding material to fill a tiny space and must wear a retainer at night permanently since my move when not held in place.

Sorry don't have any experience with dentists in CR other than reading reports praising the savings in cost and quality of work. Best of luck.

Sorry, haven't checked the forum for a couple days. I can't give a grand total for my costs yet, as I am not done. I have a couple options which will affect the price to finish my work when I go back, so I have to decide when I go. I spent about 7,000 there, and I will spend another 2,000 to 3000 to finish. I spent more than I thought I would based on some other posts, but I had decades of dental neglect to take care of, and the quote I got here in the US was more than twice as much. I will probably need one additional trip depending on whether I get more implants, but should be less costly. I do enjoy my time in Costa Rica, so I will do what I must! Also, my apologies for derailing this thread a bit since the topic was invisalign  but I thought it would be ok to mention just how good I think the dental care is in cr, at least at Esthetic 90210.

Thanks Newfangle. I had similar work done in the States over 10 years ago for about 10K so the 20K States price sounds right for 2012. Less than 10K is an excellent deal no doubt! i probably would use CR if i have to redo the work which does not last forever.

The price quoted to me by my dentist was $5000. I have no idea what that includes but my insurance will pick some of it up. Of course, I have been told the price will be going up after the first of the year.

I hate paying that kind of cash for one tooth that has gone stupid and is messing up the rest and it'll get worse over time too.

Invisaligns don`t actually fix crooked teeth they are just to hide them and show teeth whiter and perfect looking. http://veneerscost.org/dental-veneers/what-are-veneers/

Those are Veneers and they are not the same thing. Invisaligns are as Bunda Man described.

You will need retainers after braces or invisalign.. Your teeth will shift back to their original position if you don't.
