If I recall correctly, when you travel from Colombia to Costa Rica you need proof of immunization (for yellow fever, I think). Questions: *Does the same apply if you are arriving in Costa Rica from Peru? *What sort of proof does one need to show? Is there an "official" certificate I can get from a doctor? *What web site(s) are you using to find this information? Thanks guys. |

Yes. "Persons traveling to Costa Rica from some countries in South America and Sub-Saharan Africa must provide evidence of a valid yellow fever vaccination prior to entry. The South American countries include Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela." from http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_t ... _1093.html Yellow Fever Certificate "After immunization an International Certificate of Vaccination is issued and is valid 10 days after vaccination to meet entry and exit requirements for all countries. The Certificate is good for 10 years. You must take the Certificate with you." from http://www.travelconnections.com/Health/yelfever.htm My doctor doesn't have these vaccinations so I went to a little travel health office to have it done. |

Walgreens will give you any shot you need. You will need a prescription from your doctor first. You can make an appointment online. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a Hepatitis A and B shot too. |

Twinrix is the best Hep shot. It's a battery of 3 shots 90 days apart. Good for life. Fortunately my company paid for mine. |

Since we are on the subject where can you get a Yellow fever shot in San Jose? Mine is about to expire and I would rather do it there as I don't want to spend any more time in the states than I have to. |

After working in Africa off and on since 2001 my shot card looks like a term paper. |

Ilv4play wrote: looks like the hep A & B might not be a bad idea Twinrix is a combo Hep A & B shot. Instead of getting 5 shots to do both, you get 3 if you do the combo. It's relatively expensive though and when I was getting my Hep shots a few years ago, it was not widely available. |
