I will not spend any more money in Costa Rica. Yes, Bangkok passed a smoking ban also, but they ignore it there. Goodbye friends. I had fun. Speaknomore |

I love this. I have no desire to have anybodys smoky cigarette or cigar smell drifting towards me, and inhaling smoke makes me choke. Wanna smoke? Go huddle outside. |

Having been in the family bar business in Wisconsin for over 30 years....I can assure you that after a transition period, it ain't that big of a deal. Customers go outside and smoke, non smokers are happier and overall the bar is a nicer place to be. |

Speaknomore This news plus the possible CRT ban news makes this the most depressing day I have had since I joined CRT. These are the things I like to get away from the US for. Plus both of these bans were influenced by the US. At least I still have the DR. You can't smoke indoors in many places there either, but everything there is outdoors or semi-outdoors so they don't stop you. |

Yeah, screw Costa Rica and their smoking ban. I'm going to start going to Panama where I can smoke anywhere I want. Oh wait.... |

Can anyone clarify this? Does the law just prohibit smoking inside public buildings, bars, restaraunts, stores, etc., or does it apply to ALL public places including outside and on the street? In Florida, there are designated smoking areas, including patio areas of restaurants. Does something like that exist in the CR law? Just a note.... If it includes parks and on the street, might we reasonably expect the local Policia to use this as a propina initiator? ![]() |
