My novia's sister has three little ones by an atypical American piece of garbage who comes and goes from California to CR like the wind and doesn't give her any money so those of you who are involved with the locals knows what happens to me. I know how it works in the states, need to file in the correct venue and then have him served with summons and the complaint to get jurisdiction over him, but does anyone know how it works in CR?

They do it the same way. I think they have to serve him the papers, but once she puts a pension on him. She has the right to restrict his coming and going from this country. So if the guy is a real scumbag that is ok, but if she is just pissed cuz he is not here, but he is paying her then all you are doing is keeping him from either coming here or going back to the states. I hope you are sure this guy is truely a scumbag before you get in the mix on this one. They can do it very easily and a lot of women do this kind of thing just cuz they are pissed. So like I said before, make sure the story you are hearing is the complete truth before you get involved. Just my two cents....... Good luck if the guy is a douche......

Yep, good advice, but I am in with this clan for 3 years, they all live on the same rural property near Londres. He's a crack head goof living off his CA father, have no clue how her sister, who's a knock out, got pg 3x with this piece of work, she's not a druggie, but she sure wasn't thinking. 3 little K*ds, 5,4,and 2. Doesn't give her a dime.

I checked the K*ds out on that CR official website, he's not listed as the father, nobody is. I read an article where CR has a DNA program for mom's in pursuit of support, but it seemed to be linked to if the mother declared someone as the father at the hospital for the birth cert. It might be a sensitive subject so I'll let my gal ask her, but there's no q they're his, look like him.

I'll be back Semana Santa, I have an amiga who is an abogada, see what she thinks. I think the prolem is going to be if he was never declared what they say in the states as the "putative father" at birth, and then getting him served in CA although I think treaties between us cover that.

But you know who is bearing the brunt of this dysfunction.

Of course I do...... I am sorry to hear that. There is a clinic in Barrio California(I drive by it all the time, but can not remember the name. It is right by the courts). that is the only clinic that is approved by the OIJ here for DNA tests(I know this because it is the one I used and had to search for it). If $$$ is an issue they would have to go th San Joaquin de Heredia to get it done and that process takes forever. I think she can still put a claim on him and hold him here even without dna proof. I am not sure how it works exactly, but there are ways. I suggest talking to a lawyer and going from there. Good luck....

Been down this road several times with girls in USA and CR.
It never turned out good for me. I doubt in the long run
it will for you either.

We step in to be the White Knight and end up the Aas* Ho*le.
The stink just gets all over us. If you want to help, just point them in the
right direction and let them do their own thing. (After years of reflection they
made their own mess and must learn to clean it up or they do it again.)
Or if you have the bucks pay a local attorney to fix it and call it a day.
