Hey, I have an unlocked quad band phone with me here in CR and am wondering what I would need to get it working with a CR number? Any suggestions on where to go? Thanks! |

Go to any place that is selling prepaid chips and take your passport. They will sell you one with credit already on it and ability to make international calls. They are all over the place. Just look for the sign that says Kolbi, Claro, or one of the others. the DR |

You can go to any ICE office to get a prepaid (prepago) SIM. Or go to pretty much any cellular store and they will be able to sell you a prepaid SIM. I read that there are now 5 prepaid cell companies in CR, not just ICE. Wherever you go, make sure to have them set up the phone and activate the SIM before you leave. This company will even deliver the SIM to you: http://www.fullmovil.cr/ BTW-the cost should be under $10 for the lowest denomination SIM. Don't get ripped off. |

Thank you guys. Went for a walk down Avenida Central this am and stopped into a store with a "Claro" sign out front and asked for a prepago sim card. Was taken to another very attractive young lady who signed me up for a "moviestar" chip and phone number. Total cost was C2500. They also said it came with 2 or 3 hours of minutes.
