There is a lot of buzz going on right now about this movie based on the popular triology by Swedish novelist Stigg Larrson. The buzz is because besides being a very good movie there is a original adaptation that was done in Sweden that covers all three books. The one out in American theaters follows the first book but they may also cover the triology depending on the success of the first one. On other forums there is a lot of discussion on which one is the best and which of the leads is hotter the original or the one out now.Myself I went and seen the one in theaters out now and thought it was very good. But the original was very good also. The female lead who played Lisbeth Salander in the one now has a finer bod but the original was more edgy and dark. Anyways the original can be viewed on Netflix streaming and my question is what is your opinion between the two. ![]() |

I saw the recent version with my 22 year old daughter and thought it was very good. The rape scene and sex scenes were scary (rape scene) and well done. I look forward to seeing the other two if they are made. BTW, seeing this with your daughter is something that I would not recommend. I do not have Netflix. Is there another way to see the original? Thanks. Have a Great Day, Dave |

It was better in the original Klingon. That said, I'm glad the people behind the American version didn't change the setting to America (as they did with Insomnia, another Nordic-noir picture), or bowdlerize it too much, as often happens with European independent films that get re-made in America. I'd discuss it at greater length but I'm not sure of everybody's tolerance for plot spoilers. |

But that said the American one now in theaters is extremely well made and if they complete the triology I will definately see them. Both Lisbeths were very good but until the last two chapters are shot my jury has to be out to recess ![]() |

If you live in CR I don't know if they have the service available but I heard it was coming to Latin America. ![]() |

I've watched all three of the Swedish films and enjoyed them immensely. I do not plan to waste my money on what is likely a typical American made cheap imitation. Also--an excerpt: "It's not looking good: After the film's dismal opening in the U.S., the future of the franchise depends on how well it plays overseas, box-office analyst Jeff Bock tells MTV News. But international success is hardly a sure thing. The Swedish version of Dragon Tattoo is barely two years old, and was a massive success around the world, grossing nearly $100 million. "Do overseas audiences really want to see the Hollywood version after the original is so fresh in their minds and was equally well-received?" |

I'll probably wait until this new version comes out on Blu Ray. But I am looking forward to it. I liked the Swedish versions, but I still would be interested in a Hollywood version. And I never take reviews into consideration when I choose to watch a movie ![]() |

I saw the original the other night. I saw it thru my Amazon Prime account, instant for free. This works only in the US. I have a Roku to connect my TV to the computer. It is a powerful movie, a murder mystery with great charactors. It has left me thinking about the movie, and the circumstances of people's lives and how it may affect them. I will certainly look for the more recent version, but this movie is one I will not forget. Lizabeth is a deep, interesting person. There are some sex scenes, but I really did not find them "hot", I was caught up in the intensity of the whole story. |
