Thursday's 12.22.12 on-line A.M Costa Rica, EL Diario and La Prensa Libre report that the Mayor of the Canton of Aguirre--which includes Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Matapalo, Londres, Naranjito, and that Central Pacific area---was arrested with his Assistant by the OIJ for procuring minors from smaller towns to make porno flicks and engage in prostitution. 600 cd's confiscated. Costa Rica editor@amcostarica.com +(506) 2223-1327 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today's on line La Prensa Libre: MAYOR FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION Written by Andrey Berrocal Gamboa Thursday December 22, 2011 00:00 • Aguirre in Puntarenas The Mayor of the Canton of Aguirre, Gómez Bolaños Lutgardo, was arrested yesterday by the judicial authorities, who attributed to him sexual exploitation crimes, embezzlement and illicit enrichment after a four month investigation. The Prosecutor and the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) yesterday raided the Mayor's home in the Canton of Aguirre, which includes Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Matapalo, Llarona, Londres and surrounding communities on the Central Pacific coastal areas to stop further activity by the Mayor against whom an investigation was conducted for allegedly committing sexual exploitation of minors and for illicit enrichment. The officers arrested the Mayor and his driver, Ortega Arias, who both allegedly engaged minors and women looking to shoot pornographic videos and also satisfy their innermost desires. The Public Ministry reported that both are accused of human trafficking, embezzlement and illicit enrichment. The illicit enrichment charge against Mayor Bolaños and his driver Ortega results from their receiving per diems and overtime pay, in addition to a rental car, paid with municipal money for trips to the capital in search of potential victims. The deputy director of the OIJ, Francisco Segura, said the suspects came to marginal urban areas, like La Carpio, Los Guido, including Perez Zeledon and Golfito, where they took young women to shops to buy clothes and then moved to the relations sex. The report noted that so far they have investigated five cases where Ch*ldren would be offended and also four adult women. Pornography After the capture, the agents searched the driver's residence where they collected more evidence, including at least 600 CDs which contained pornographic material. Apparently, the subjects also promoted women that were relatives of the prostitutes. In total, they raided three points: the mayor's house located in Llorona the driver's home, and the municipal building in Quepos, where authorities seized computers, magazines and other documents related to the case. In the afternoon, the prosecution said that it would formally interrogate the two suspects, and then seek court approval for the precautionary measures against them. I have emailed the editor of Inside CR to do a follow story up since his e-paper did not cover the original story. If this story is true, maybe CR authorities should change that life size poster at the exit door of the airport warning "foreigner's" about doing this, and the imposing airport bill boards, when you have the Mayor of a major Canton in CR in the thick of it. |
