Expat returns to Guápiles home to find wife and daughter dead By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The wife of a Los Angeles man killed her 5-year-old daughter and then hung herself in the family home in El Prado de Guápiles Friday night or early Saturday, said the Judicial Investigating Organization. The husband, Kevin Hayes, discovered the murder and suicide when he returned home early Saturday, judicial police said. On his Facebook page, the father identified the daughter as Fergie Stacy Hayes and his wife as Yuritza Junieth Flores. She was 24. The Judicial Investigating Organization said that the girl had a plastic bag wrapped around her head, but that the cause of death would not be known until the results of an autopsy are provided. The body of the girl was in the principal bedroom, while the mother was in the bathroom, judicial police said. Cruz Roja workers said that when they arrived there were no signs of life. According to a business Web page, Hayes works or worked in Los Angeles under the name of the Tax Doctor preparing federal income tax filings. Shortly before 8 a.m. Hayes posted on his Web site the message, "I am so sorry to say my wife and baby passed away. God help me!" The Facebook page included photos of his wife and the daughter, including one when they visited Quepos two months ago. |

Obviously a very tragic and horrific thing. BUT I'm almost as disturbed by a facebook post. Is nothing in this world private anymore? He feels the need to post something about his wife and daughter passing away? Completely disturbing to me. |

Completely disturbing to me. I agree completely. Does the whole world have to know that the guy's family died? I'm surprised he didn't twit it from the crime scene. The social networking thing has gone out of control. |

I'm not famous for being the most tolerant guy on CRT (If i think your a jerk, or dumb, I'm likely to call you on it ![]() ![]() But this tragic incident happened in CR, it was reported in a gringo/english speaking newspaper, and its news - awful, but its news. You may not like it Vers, and you may question as to why the OP posted it, and I'll agree that the media tends to blow everything out of proportion - but you cannot dispute it is news and it happened in CR (I just feel that there may be more to this terrible story - just a feeling). I hate social media and agree w/ my fellow poster Orange things have gotten out of hand; I don't have nor do I want a facebook account, and I don't twitter - but maybe the guy figured this was the best way to get the news out to those he knew (Not the way I would do things, but...) PS If I call the media about every story I think they got wrong, annoyed me, or disagreed with, I'd be on the phone or e mailing them 24/7 ![]() ![]() ![]() |

im not big on social media either but think about it, if he lives in cr this might be the best and easiest way to let people know what happened. i mean i dont go on facebook very much but people will let u know when they r going to the bathroom. this is kinda tacky but its alot cheaper then trying to call everybody and explain. im sorry for his loss god bless him. |

TW, no offence (I generally like your posts) but WTF is the point of posting this???? If I want bad news, I will turn on the tv (oh wait, I don't have one!), or I will go back to the states and be bombarded with this crap. This is not interesting and it is NOT news. |

I absolutely agree with Brother Tstef527 on this but I'd take it a step further--it's downright horrific/creepy that someone would so publicly parade their private pain--I live in a world of some limits on exhibition--goes to show how out of touch I am--or is it me? |

This is wild as I had a session with this girl about two years ago. Met her at HDR. She was a real sweetheart and stayed all night. Didn't ask for a dime and said whatever I wanted to pay was fine. We kept in contact - I still have her phone number, facebook invite, and some emails she sent me. Does not sound like the same girl that I knew. I did notice last time we talked & was trying to arrange meeting that something was not quite right, almost like she was on drugs or something. Very sad, especially for the daughter. I agree, posting the stuff on her facebook so quick is creepy. |

I have to agree, While yes, it is CR news, and very tragic and sad, it can be seen/read in the local newspapers/media for those interested. That's where I'll go if I'm interested in this kind of thing. The reason I think most of us come here to this forum is to get away from awful shit like this for awhile at least. Only thing that could place any relevance on it is if this guy was a CRT member, or family of a member or some other connection. Other than that, no place here. My humble opinion only. hj |
