Yes sir......Thank you all that have served and are presently serving. I agree with SR that it does not matter to me why they sent you. What matters to me is that you answered the call. All my respect and gratitude........ the DR |

Yea, he's sweatin me so hard he can't even decide what I'm saying before being a doosh...funny how you skip the quasi anti-patriotic (posted just before you) comment to misinterpret what I said ![]() Not that I need to give you my resume but I served proudly in the Air Force for over 10 years.. ![]() Its a shame ur quickness to be such a hater/doosh tarnished an otherwise good gesture... Go sweat my nuts elsewhere .... Cujo |

Some of the nonsense in this thread is not worth commenting on but it so egregious it would be a disservice to our military to just let it pass. This is a day we honor those who served their country and especially those who died while performing that service. They did not choose where their service would take them that was decided in someone in a far higher pay grade. What is important is they willing served, in whatever capacity they were assigned so that the citizens of the United States could continue to live in a country that allows more personal freedom then any civilization has ever known. I proudly donned the uniform of my countries military for 4 years. Did anyone shoot at me? No. My superiors felt my contribution was more valuable in another capacity. Am I embarrassed by that? No. When I volunteered to serve my country I was willing to go where I was assigned. Has my country shown their gratitude for my service? I believe so. They gave a me a low cost mortgage and they provided me medical care during a low period in my life when I had no health insurance. Was I aware of those benefits when I sign on? NO but they sure were nice when I needed them.. Now I command an American Legion post in Costa Rica. I see first hand the terrible price some of my comrades have paid for serving their country. Did they return to accolades? We all know the answer to that. How strange the country turned their back on those brave warriors but reelected those politicians who sent them to do the dirty work of war. Disagree with the decisions of politicians but don't dare denigrate the brave service of those men and women with nonsense like Quote: just think about all the women and K*ds we killed in Vietnam. Yes, a day to be proud. I apologize for my rant. |

I agree that a soldier does as commanded. Like the quote I have heard, but I can not remember who said it. Please help me if you know...... "Soldiers don't get involved in politics......We have the luxury of not having to have an opinion......" I think that is how it goes......Anyway, Soldiers do the duty and deserve respect for it....... Again, thanks to all of you who have served and are serving..... the DR <-------OG with great humility and respect....... ![]() |

I was blessed to have served during the Pax Americana. I never came close to having to pull the trigger on someone, nor having to scrape a buddy's guts up off the street. Those who came before me did, and those who followed did. I want to thank my Medics (Tiger Squadron's 91B/W), who went out on missions every day with a fresh uniform, who came back inside the wire covered in blood and exhausted from putting back together fellow soldiers and civilians alike, and who all made it home. You guys done good-LT |

nothing but respect to all the veterans on this day and everyday. i also never found myself in harms way but really wish we did more for them, especially for the veterans that have witnessed the horror of war. i always think about today being more about them that it is for those of us that only fought in enlisted mens club. jmho |

The GreatWar 1914-1918 In Flanders Fields by John McCrae, May 1915 In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.....................................................We must never forget to remember...honour....and thank all those that served in the armed forces in the great war.....w.w2 ....the korean war and all the subsequent wars.....so that we may be free..... |
