Go to Facebook and search for community Fotografias antiguas de Costa Rica There are hundreds of old pics dating back to the late 1800's, some from the Smithsonian Anthropological Archives. Also info (en espanol) like "Población de Costa Rica en 1522" which I guess is the population breakdown of the country then, total 27,200, a pic of Parque Morazan 1921 (surprised the Templo de Música was there that long ago) and Volcán Poás erupting in 1954.
