I know GPS works in Costa Rica. In my hotel I was able to pinpoint my location, but that was because I was able to pull the map from the wifi. It works all over the world. |

Yes, a dedicated handheld GPS receiver will work anywhere in the world since the satellites are separate from any cellular phone network. |

Aqua, I've brought a couple of hand-held GPS's to Victor and they work fine. The only thing I had to do, was go to the "Set Up" menu, and change the user location from SouthEast U.S.A. to Central America. That changes the default Latitude/Longitude for your "home" location, and then you're good to go! Buena Suerte (that means good luck en español) !!!!!
