Post subject:  Young(er) Guy Traveling to South America / Costa Rica ?

Hey guys,

I've been lurking for a few months and have a question.

I'm thinking about taking a trip to Colombia next summer, partly as a tourist, and partly to meet women. I'm wondering if Colombian women generally go for younger guys? I would be almost 26 years old when I take my trip. I'm not opposed to paying to get laid, but would prefer to meet women in clubs, bars, etc... The reason I ask is because I've been told that women in some countries (for example, Thailand) go crazy for older white guys since they are perceived as being rich. Would I be at a disadvantage in Colombia? What about Costa Rica?

Some information about me: I'm working on a PhD in Electrical Engineering, speak fluent Spanish, and am in very good shape (run about 25-30 miles per week.) I've never had trouble meeting women here in the US, but I just don't find white women attractive. Unfortunately, almost all of the girls in my area are either Asian or White. I'm fairly attractive (or so I've been told) and have decent game. However, I currently only make 22K/year as a grad student, although that definitely go up in a few years when I'm done. I should have enough $ saved by next summer to be able to travel comfortably for a while.

Any suggestions from you more experienced folks? Thanks.

It depends upon what type of woman you want to meet.

If it's a p4p relationship, the older guys are perceived to have more money and to be easier marks than younger guys... hence, a better pay day.

If you're talking about meeting regular women close to your age, many Colombianas (and other latinas) do prefer guys 10 - 15 years older. And...it's not uncommon for a young Colombiana, who has an older novio or husband, to have a discreet, younger amante on the side. Although, this is not always the case, the older guys are perceived as being more stable (emotionally and fiancially) than a young pup still sewing his wild oats. Colombianas are romantics, but in a pragmatic sort of way. Nevertheless, the "older novio/esposo" is not a hard and fast rule. There are plenty of opportunities for you to find a gf close to your age. From my experience, Colombianas seem to have more depth and passion than their tica counterparts. If it's a serious gf you're looking for, Colombianas (especially paisas) are much better candidates than ticas, IMO.

Me too!

I also have lived on the Stanford University campus and have bemoaned the lack of smoking hot latinas there. You can't swing a dead cat there without hitting at least a dozen dinks or four eyed white girls....pitiful.

But, since my PhD was in Gym Studies, (thus affording me opportunity to get in excellent shape), I would just make my daily jogs down to the San Jose/Silicon Valley area to meet smoking hot latinas.

My incredibly good looks did not seem to hinder me, though passing motorists, (jealous Mexicans, I'm sure) would often hurl empty beer cans at me. These I would collect for scrap value to supplement my meager wages.

However, since you are considering Colombia or Costa Rica...I would advise setting aside enough funds to purchase a bottle of the elixir Diacort (Hidrosin in Colombia).

In addition, a modest purchase of a container of Holy Water from the Basilica in Cartago will go a long, long way in assuaging the hurt feelings of any Little Darling due to your lack of liquid assets.

enjoy!

I'm not sure what kind of advice you could be seeking. Just come and have fun. Go to clubs and see what happens, and if what happens isn't what you want to have happen go to an MP.

Be flexible, be experimental, be frugal...you'll have a blast.

It’s very simple. Women in the ‘hobby’ in Costa Rica and Colombia will go for ANY guy who shows them the money. The fact that you are young in my opinion make things a little easier if you decent with the girls. The fact you can score with girls in the US is significant and a point in your favor. The fact that you only make 22K a year is a point against you. If you are planning to stay for a while, money could run out pretty quick and the girls, who were in love with you, will not give you the time of the days after money dries out. If you are planning to stay for a week or so, you can have the time of your life and be treated like a rock star. If you are looking for a GFE you are more likely to find one in Colombia. If you have never travelled before in Latin America, maybe Costa Rica is a better way to start your journey. :)

Hey, if you're young, handsome, fluent and poor why are you talking to a bunch of non-Spanish speaking mongers? Why would you even consider P4p? If I were you I would stay as far away from the monger scene as possible. Do the U. districts and college hangouts. Hit the dance clubs. There is no reason for you to ever go in your pocket if the description you gave is correct.

The majority of these guys rely on their wallet for the attraction factor and can't provide insight on your situation.

ralphbren,

I started mongering when I was 24-25 and now I am almost 36. I have been to Costa Rica to monger and I have visited Colombia but have never have partaken in the hobby in Colombia.

This is what I would suggest: Go to Costa Rica if you are strictly looking for the p4p scene. Having the Hotel Delray full of chicas is a great convenience anytime of the day or night. In my experience, the chicas do not care about your age. They just want to make sure that you have the dinero for their time.

Since you are fluent in Spanish this is what I would do considering that you are on a budget. I would buy a membership on Latin Cupids and meet some Colombian women in the area you want to visit. Talk to them for awhile and I would bet that you will meet a nice girl and have a lot of fun. I have found the Colombian people to be extremely friendly and I am sure your experience will be no different. As someone mentioned above, you can always go to a MP in Colombia if nothing works out with the women you met online. Of course there are plenty of women in the bars etc...

Good Luck,

I believe 1L1L summed it up well, too. CR is good if you are seeking strictly p4p, as all of it is centralized in the gulch. If you got money, you are good to go. If you're looking to meet cool, regular women, check out Colombia. Your fluency in Spanish will make it easy. I used LatinAmericanCupid, as well, and highly recommend it. I would start using it to meet women several months before your planned trip, so that you have some time to do the sorting process.

I agree 100% with Pacifica55.

If you have a good personality & can speak Spanish there is no reason why you would not have a lot of success with the Paisitas in Medellin. You don´t need to rely on your $$. If you are out-going you will have lots of chicas interested in you!

The Paisas like to socialize in large groups. Sit down at a bar & you will find yourself invited to join them in La Rumba!

But you need to give yourself at least 2 weeks here in Medellin in order to get to know people & try not to hang-out only with other Gringos. I would also suggest not staying in Poblado where most of the Prepagos are trolling for easy money.

Don´t be shy!! No Hay Pena en Medellin!!

Ciao.

PM me if I can be of any assistance.

Yes, once you get yourself introduced to regular paisas and begin to socialize, your social network will grow with each subsequent trip. The latina websites are a good place to get started, but once your feet are on the ground, you will be able to make other amigas without needing the websites.

The guys who strictly do p4p may do the same type of social networking. You will be able to meet working girls through one of the MDE guide services or places of accommodation that cater to mongers. A veteran monger may also share his p4p recommendations with you. In turn, you will be able to fill your phone book as well as get "referrals" from trusted service providers.

Very Good Point!

Ain't nothing better than dating a PRO but not having to pay for it. Even a PRO needs a novio every once in awhile. A good friend of mine who is in his early 30s made a habit of "dating" PROs over the period of 4 months in Medellin. You just pay for the RUMBA & have a great time!!

P4P is not the only option in Medellin.

But if you are looking for a relationship, do you really want to look for someone "in the life" - even if you don't pay by the hour - lets face it - would you date a sex worker in the USA :?: Just sayin'

There are plenty of "nice girls" available, w/out the drama and nonsense that often comes from dating a "pro" - and remember - its never free.

Just a different perspective.......or maybe I'm jaded from reading about so many of the dating relationships that have ended so badly - although you are far closer in age than the 60 year old monger who falls for a DelRey dollie 1/3 his age - then wonders why he was made a fool of.
