O.K.--So I want to see if I've got this right regarding walking around after dark. I'm staying at the Amon Plaza which is close to Z Blue and some other interesting spots. Then I understand that up by the Presidente there's Key Largo & Blue Marlin. I assume it's unsafe to walk from say Z. Blue up to Blue marlin (at night) but what about walking short distances say from Key Largo to Blue Marlin or say from Z. Blue to a nearby club or bar. Or do I just take a taxi for everything? Thx.

From the BM to KL is about 50 yards-so no problem there-unless you consider the cigar vendors, taxi touts, begging nun and sundry other nuisances a problem.Walking from the BM to Presidente is usually quite safe but if you are drunk or wearing a lot of jewellrey and flashing a large bankroll then by all means take a taxi. From Amon Plaza/ZB I would take a cab after dark.
