And here you are thinking about getting maried. ![]() Interesting, women obviously do these things and maybe for the reasons stated but I don't really think most of them realize what they're doing and why they do it. Some sort of sub-conscious drive to Phuck with our heads. Are they born with it or do they learn it from other women? |

My wife is a 32 yr old Colombiana. College-educated. Beautiful. Great body. Vain. She never met a mirror she couldn't stop in front of. I've modified some of the items listed in the article but these are the ones that fit her the best: "Women are like spoiled Ch*ldren. They are self-focused, insecure and irrational. They demand constant attention, reassurance. And, like Ch*ldren, who ceaselessly push limits to see just how much they can get away with from their parents, women relentlessly test men." 1. Pouting or acting bratty or bitchy when she doesn't get her way, no matter how minor. 2. Blaming you when you call her on her behavior. The key to dealing with her is also outlined in the article. I've grown much more understanding with time (and 2 previous marriages) but I'm still enough of a hardass to hold her accountable for her actions. 1. (4)- Stand your ground at the outset. At the first inkling of a test, put your foot down, and keep it down. Tell her that you refuse to be tested. Explain to her that if she wants to be with you, then she'll have to knock off the childish behavior. 2. (5)- When all else fails, walk away. This is your ultimate power as a man, and the ultimate "pass" of her tests. Within no time she is all lovey-dovey again. She knows this ain't my first rodeo and who is in charge. She also knows she is welcome to walk out the door whenever she doesn't like it. Of course threatening to find another woman doesn't hold much weight because she can find 1000 men for any 1 woman I could get. The funny thing is she is deathly afraid that I MIGHT find a girlfriend. I hope she never realizes how lucky I really am. |

I don't disagree with a lot of what Fitzgerald says, although my own experience with two marriages was different. The main thing that seemed to drive us apart was my wife (wives) forming a program for me at home, and being pissed off when I ignored her program. The program could have been anything she thought I should be doing, but wasn't. Stereotypes would include taking out the garbage and mowing the lawn, but there were so many others of a subtler nature. Who decides what parody in a relationship is? Her? When I get the feeling my life is being evaluated according to expectations by a woman, I get a little nervous. I experience enough "overseeing" on the job. It's interesting both my wives were firstborns (bosses) and I was a last-born (dreamer). Nobody likes to feel they're doing more shit than the other in a relationship, but I always encouraged my wives to look at the big picture. Namely, we both contributed in our own ways, neither of which was better, worse, harder, easier. But some women have to micro-manage. It's in their blood. |

JM, Your experience is I think universal. The death of a relationship is when it becomes obligation rather than interaction, that is when the resentment and discomfort begin to build. When it is no longer a two way pursuit of mutual passion but a battle of materialism or power, it is over. The greatest relief you will ever feel is when you bail out of such a relationship and realize that you have been answering to a standard you did not realize even existed. You are suddenly totally free in a way you did not know before you were a prisoner. It is an epiphany, a transmigration to a higher plane, a revelation to your manhood and humanity. You are free in a way you never even realized existed before. You will never go back, you will be in control even if you relinquish temporary power for the sake of the moment, and you will be able to move out smartly to take higher ground and accomplish the final mission when the time comes. I have read and studied virtually all of Aristotle, Plato, Machiavelli and the other classical and not so classical philosophers and after having seen your last post, I would refer you to one of our more modern scholars whose words adorned a poster with a picture of a gorgeous female in Daisy Dukes shorts and a crop top halter with the caption, "No matter how good she looks to you right now, there is someone, somewhere, who has had enough of her shit." Goetz since you've brought up Plato (first time I've seen him mentioned on a mongering board lol) here is a blurb related to him... "History suggests that the less you tell women, the easier it is for you to build your empire. How could I possibly defend lying to your significant other? Well, I cannot, but Plato can. Plato was too clever for his time, which is why he fled Ancient Greece for a while. In his utopia, he broke up society into three parts: the philosopher kings, the soldier guardians and the workers. He argued that the philosopher kings were the only ones who had the intellect and capacity to make the best decisions for society. Plato argued that society's leaders (the philosopher kings) were allowed to lie to the soldiers and workers to get society to reach a state of utopia. Plato argued this because in his opinion, only philosopher kings had the intellectual capacity to lead. If we were to draw a parallel between Plato's leaders (philosopher kings) and a household's boss (men), then we can add that it is equally okay for men to lie to women. Women are smart, no doubt, that's why we have to keep their minds at bay." |

Goetz, Yes, I've seen the poster and I think of it often. In fact I referred to it to a co-worker just the other day. It took some work but I found the poster. http://stucohen.com/reality_check.htm Fortunately there are some plusses to being married to this woman. And for those of you who think it's just the sex you would be mistaken. She can be a lot of fun when she wants to be. She looks good on my arm and can be the best date you ever had. She loves to dance, is a big football fan, enjoys a little gambling (as do I) and has a great sense of humor. And after 4 1/2 years of marriage she still loves me (go figure). Plus she has allowed me 4 trips to Costa Rica in the past year. On the other hand she can sure piss me off in a heartbeat if that's the direction she wants to go. I have never had Ch*ldren so I can only surmise this is what it's like to raise a teenage daughter. What can you do? You can't beat them you just try to "get through to them". If it all falls apart I will survive. I'll be on the next plane to San Jose then Rio, the Philippines and Thailand so I'm not lying awake at nights worrying about it. I would hate to lose my third house, though. Note to Circus: Sorry, mama passed away 3 months after my wife arrived in the USA. Yes, fellas, that sort of thing does happen and you know who picked up the majority of the tab for the doctor and funeral. |
