I was not there but I have it on first hand info that at 1am Weds night a disgruntled former employee entered the DR and began shooting a pistol. I don't know how many shots he got off before being restrained but no one was hurt.(No,not big John) He shot out some windows. Last night was busy as usual so I guess "if you build it they will come,no matter what"
No Grim Reaper shit por favor

Perhaps we can get Ollie North to switch from the Park Hotel to The Rey and market some of his famous body armor embroidered with " CRT Says No CIEN".

The guy must have been a former postal worker.... Unfortunately, it can happen anytime, anywhere, and for no real reason at all. Violence is rarely the answer.

Actually, if you might recall a similar albeit more extreme example occurred not too long ago with a former policeman (not a postal worker) at an embassy in SJ. I don't think things have gotten to the stage where you need body armor (condoms yes, body armor no) as these are still isolated incidents, but such things do appear to becoming more and more common in CR. Combine a poor economy, political corruption, a rising tide of drugs, increased crime and other such inter-related social pressures and popular frustration will eventually boil over in the form of nationwide strikes, traffic disputes, domestic abuse and workplace violence such as this one. All in all, not a very good sign of where our little slice of paradise is heading.

Thanks VB.
There is misinformation about this incident on another board.

By the way my three hometown pals arrived Wednesday afternoon and are staying at the Del Rey. It is the first visit for one of the guys. I know they love to drink in the Blue Marlin.
Maybe they can give me another first hand report once they clean out their underware. :)

The BM is still Disneyland compared to some other famous monger-bars in other countries when it comes to danger and violence. In Managua, Nicaragua (its a helluva town) the number one monger spot is Polancos. There they pat everyone down before entering and confiscate all guns and knives. In PP, Cambodia at bars like Sharkey's, I have read suggestions on some boards to always sit near the exit just in case a rival gang happens to toss in a live grenade (I K*D you not). I'm sure other members could tell you some hair-raising tales of their own about some of the other places they have visited.

I was standing right next to the shooter...it was freaky...he walked up to the door smashed out a window then shot a few rounds at the cameras and then pictures on the wall over the casino cashier started falling...he then turned around left and drove by and shot the outside of the delrey..the place was totally dead after this the girls all bailed out...it was totally out of control...

YO Paulie:
Please do something about your spelling and grammer. When I hear information such as that I would like to know it is legit. Not knocking you but words say a lot about the source. Respectfully........

BTW....I am quite familiar with guns in the DR.
