Post subject: | Posting of a members personal information |
My reasoning for making this post is multiple. It comes from another thread, where with what I believe were 100% good intentions, a couple of members posted personal information about another member. (there is the chance he isn’t a member) But, I think the points and issues remain the same. Is there any reason in which it is “OK†or permissible (without his consent) to post in CRT’s public or VIP forum a members, Legal name, phone number, city of residence, relatives names, Photos, email accounts, Facebook, or any other screen name he may use or go by? Anything that would tie a member to this board or help someone outside this board discover a user's real info? And, If by chance either a “Good†or “Foul†deed, personal information was posted about a member, Is there a manner to have it removed by Admin 1 or the person involved? Again, in the mentioned thread, I truly believe there was no intention of placing this person in harm’s way, but for all of our safety I want to know if it were to happen do I have any recourse? |

No doubt. I could run to the man upstairs........In the end I will ask the question of Da Man....... This isssue has made me really think about my assocation with this board..... But I was also wondering what the members of the board thought about this type of problem? Having never been married, No K*ds and no political desires of any kind, I dont see how I could be hurt by my postings and involvement here. But you never know???? I guess I am thinking about groups of my friends who do not need to know about this forum and people from my work who dont need to know. In this age of internet it is to easy for cross over from one to the other. And even friends with the best of intentions sometimes can unwittingly cause some undue stress in our lives. Nothing intended to anyone. To that end, I dont speak of others in any post in any manner that could even remotely be traced back to them. I do not post photos of myself or any special "friends" I know many are here for that and do not take any issue with those who do. I am here for the intel and the info. But it is my choice and rarely look at those areas of the board and rarely post a comment to any photo. Glad its here but unless you have the permission of those in the photos I would ask that you dont post them. I guess it is a respect thing. I got issues???? ![]() I have met only a few of you and really wonder what the groups of members who know each other feel about this? |

This came up before when a member passed away and his real name along with some links were posted. The biggest problem is those damn search-bots that will pull up posts on CRT when anyone googled his name. No it would probably not be good for family and friends searching for other details to find a loved one associated with a monger site. |

The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! In fact its grounds for removal from the site. I try to read as much as I can and there are quite a few guys who bring things to my attention when missed. If I missed something of this nature please feel free to pass it on to me, one thing is for certain if its in error I make the edit and remind the poster of not doing this.. If its with malice of forethought you will find yourself somewhere else posting. Thanks. |

I am glad that Admin 1 reasserted this policy. I think it just opens up too many potential problems. I was shocked on ISG when, a certain hotel owner from "down under" posted personal informaiton (including phone number) of someone which whom he had a pissing context. And that is somone with access to a lot of phone numbers..not good.. |
