One of the many indications of a declining country.

I didn’t see anything new in the USA Today article. Nica’s have been flooding south for years. It is much easier to get in and out of Costa Rica than it is to travel to and get in and out of the U.S.

Everyone has a different opinion of Nicaragua as to the status of their economy, public safety and tourism.

Nicaragua has the poorest economy of all nations in Central America. Its GDP per capita is 129th of all nations which is $2800 per capita; the US is 10th at $26,400 per capita; and, Costa Rica is 81st at $11,300.

An estimated 15 percent of the GDP comes from dinaro enviado, family members living and working in more prosperous nations and remitting money back to Nicaragua. Not a good sign for GDP.

Reports from economists which I have read indicate that the failed economic policies of Ortega and, some say, his pillaging of the national treasury, is driving Nicaragua further and further into ruin.

There may be some flourishing tourist centers but the macro economy is in shambles. People do what they have to do in order to survive and going to Costa Rica for work is a good option.
