took 3 days of generic zithromax bought across from presidente 7 days later still
felt slight symptoms; so i had doubt about product being genuine or counterfeit.

so i went to pharmacy to blocks up second on left they said i needed prescription for antibiotic
so i went to pharmacy up paseo colon past theatro nacional park one block past on right.

not one word about needing prescrip; handed me a blue white box that said pfizer on it
for 30.00

held off taking it as didn't have strong symptoms; came back last tues from CR
had strong obvious sinus infection and pressure this wensday; so i went to doctor
and got presription; The first day i took it yesterday two 250mg pills; my stomach felt
bloated by 10pm but my symptoms were clearing; The other meds i felt nothing about bloating
to this effect;

This article at bottom says Pfizer zithromax is countefeited also; so if i really need something
i'm taking clue from other member to go to clinica biblia and get it dispensed there or wait till i get back. I've been to that hospital once and it seemed clean and well run

http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-0 ... -bust.html

if you don't want to read whole article-here is section about zithromax

"Pictures of Zhou’s factory show dirty, dust-covered mixing vats, sacks of ingredients piled in a bare concrete warehouse, tubs of blue dye used to color Viagra pills, and rolls of foil used to seal blister packs, printed with the logos of Zithromax, a Pfizer antibiotic, and Lipitor, its best-selling cholesterol drug. That’s evidence of an ancillary industry supplying fake packaging, said Paul Newton, a University of Oxford researcher who studies counterfeits from an office in Vientiane, Laos."

There is a pride and among some chinese if they can get over on people; Manager of our
asian office fooled with our book keeping to boost their commissions was discovered during last 2 years. Kinda like the costa rican philosophy "It's your fault you got robbed as you didn't secure the property" i guess that applies to your health and death also in their mind.

Possibly. One other option is that you've used the Z-packs too often. Many docs are no longer prescribing this antibiotic because of certain adverse side effects (to the joints, I believe....) and because they have a propensity for abuse - meaning the bugs get resistant to this antibiotic really quickly. I still use it about once a year with good results (bought in SJO & MDE & both seemed just fine), my daughter has used it more often & is getting poorer results.

One other note - it was originally prescribed for 3 days & became very popular because it was only needed three times. The typical dose now is at least 5 days.
