I read about you guys who get these Latinas to USA and all the difficulties with Visa, etc etc. What does it take to get them to Canada? A Canadian Visa? Is that as difficult as USA Visa? Anyone with experience? Gracias |

I've spoken with some who have been to Canada. Not really difficult. I think all they need is a CR passport. CH |

It's easier to get them to Canada , but there is a problem; finding a flight to Canada that doesn't go through the US. She won't be able to layover in the US without a valid US Visa. I think one option is to fly Iberia from SJO to Madrid, then somehow get to Canada from Spain (avoiding the US). It'll cost you though. |

None of that is relevent to this thread however. The question posed is obtaining a visa for a non Canadian. |

Had a co-traveler get fined in Russia for not having one. Lucky it was just a fine. It's an easy mistake to make (not getting a transit visa) and the airline doesn't catch it all the time. The absurdity of the whole thing is that those who traveled TWOV never officially entered the U.S. as they did not clear either immigration or customs. They were held in a secure sterile area at the airport until the onward portion of the flight departed. |

As the originator of this post, I cannot thank you guys enough for this education and excellent debate. For background, I am US citizen who will be working quite a bit in Alberta in the near future and was thinking I could sneak a Columbian amiga residing in SJO to Calgary for a visit. Not so fast my friend..... Very interesting input....looks like the only chance would be to fly AC to YYZ and then cris-cross the country to YYC...the time and effort not worth it.... Any other ideas welcome...thanks again for all the informative input from all... |

I agree. I worked with a lot of Canadian women in Taiwan. Very nice, intelligent and lovely ladies. Same for the Australian and NZ ladies. None of them are as useless, bitchy and whiny as the good old USA gringas. No need to import, imho. |

On the subject of flights, it's far easier than going through Spain, the DR or Cuba. I've taken Taca flights from Toronto that connect in El Salvador, I'm guessing no visa is required for a Latina to transit through SAL. To enter Canada however, she'll require a tourist visa at least. I know a chica who I met in the Del Rey who came to Toronto last year to work. Apparently, she's still trying to get back permanently. BTW, Canadian girls may be nicer, but not in Toronto.
