How do you guys handle PM's from members you have never met?

I ask because occasionally I'll read a trip report or some post and I send the person a PM to ask for something specific or whatever, only to be completely ignored. I know it was read because it's no longer in my outbox. Personally, I have answered a few hundred PM's with all kinds of questions, many from guys I've never met. I don't mind helping, but it irks me when I'm ignored.

I think it's kind of rude to ignore a PM. If you don't want to answer, say so. I would much rather get a reply saying "sorry I can't say" rather than getting dissed.

Depends on the PM. Have always answered every PM that asks for information. If I have it I give and if I do not know I say so and if possible direct them to someone who might know.

I ignore PM's that are attacks or from people who I never have met but have attacked me numerous times. By attack I do not mean strong disagreement with something I have posted but rather personnel attacks.

I answer all PM's unless it deals with price, session quality etc...

I agree about the attacking PM's. I meant more like a question about a certain chica or certain bar.

The challenge is that people that ignore PMs probably are the same people that won't take a second to participate in a poll. So by that logic, all the guys that ignore polls and PMs won't respond here. Right ?

I definitely always answer. I remember many vets answering my newbie questions and offering to help in any way. I say pay it forward.

I always answer and try to be helpful. What is annoying is guys asking for contact information for a particular chica. I never give out the contact information without first getting some means of identifying them to the chica and getting their permission. Got one PM recently from a guy I am pretty sure had bad intentions with a chica who had played him. Asked the chica and she confirmed she did not want to hear from the guy.

Peace,

I'm happy to answer and have met some great guys and had interesting conversations by pm. Sometime I forget one and don't get it for a couple of days.

PS. Except for one experience. Had a guy PM me because he didn't like something I posted. He was pushing my buttons and threatened me. He missed getting a beer bottle in his mouth by one day. I was flying back to the States the day before he arrived. Almost changed flights. Other than that, all good guys and not a bother at all.

It depends upon the question. If I think it is a violation of someone's trust or privacy, I will politely decline to answer.

Impeccable logic and doubtless correct.
Personally, I've never sent a PM that was ignored nor received one I failed to answer if it was a request or question, but I have no doubt there are some doozies in the Brotherhood. They say a whole lot about themselves with that behavior. Don't know though how the system handles the sender's end if the receiver's inbox is full--it lingers in limbo until some PMs are deleted.

Yeah, had some nasty ones from one person some time ago (you know who you are  ) but I will normally try and reason the situation out as long as the guy is not downright profane; in the last case Admin intervened and I thank him for that. I think everyone, me included, gets carried away with the anonymousness of PMs and boards in general and say things that we would not say to the person verbally. I think that it should be a good rule of thumb that if you would not be comfortable saying something to someone in person, don't say it in writing; now I just have to see if I can abide by it. :D

The internet has taken civility out of life to a good extent. Good rule of thumb. :D

Very true, everybody's a tough guy behind the keyboard. Unfortunately, sometimes people aren't as anonymous as they think they are.
