Great. The weather gets better in November (less or no rain), Thanksgiving lunch at SL is pretty good, and there's never a shortage of chicas. |

Aside from all the Chicas going home to eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal of Turkey stuffed with Gallo Pinto, it is the same.  Just kidding man, Turkey Day is a U.S. Holiday. I usually go there over the holiday weekend as businesses in the U.S. usually close on Black Friday, so you get a 4 day weekend. Personally, I would spend at least 3 hours at the SL (the only Sports Bar in the Gulch) to watch the NE/DET game and then head out to the DR.

Unless you know where to go...  The SL is putting on a turkey spread, so that's where I'm getting my dose of Tryptophan this year...  I have spent Christmas and / or New Years in Pattaya for the last few years... There's a place on soi LK Metro called Bob's Barbecue... Bob is from Houston and always puts on a Thanksgiving & Christmas spread for the Norte Americanos in town... He flies in turkeys and makes all the fixing... Nothing like a slice of home when half-way around the world on a national holiday at home... |

CR is a great place to be for a long Thanksgiving weekend. I've done three Thanksgivings there... and had a blast. Some of the best Thanksgiving Day dinners I ever had were at SL. |

I came back one trip on Thanksgiving in the late afternoon through Atlanta and there were like 5 people in the customs line. That was the fastest I ever got through. But would have traded that to stay through the rest of the weekend in SJ. |

As mentioned above, Thanksgiving is a US holiday but it is also a Canadian holiday -- the second Monday of October, eh [ey].

Flew to SJO on Thanksgiving Day in 2008 from Chicago thru Atlanta. The most pleasant travel experience ever as the terminals were virtually empty and flights 1/2 full. Once in SJ, business as usual, plenty of chicas and good times. Only downside to booking my flight for this upcoming Thanksgiving is that flights were very expensive.......but sometimes you have to bite the bullet if you want to utilize a couple of extra days off and take in some more of the good life!! |
