Maybe, but one thing. And this is gonna offend and step on toes. Only if you are fooling around with the little broken down baby factories do you find chicas with the local guy mooching money off of her.. That is USUALLY associated with low education, bad area chicas that don't have that much going for them. I guess it's all what you decide go after down here. Sometimes the bargains don't lead to good situations. When I had a place in the city I went out with and hung out with working girls that had pretty much normal lives, didn't date locals, and if they had a baby, usually came from a good father. Next time you're negociating for that cheapest price possible, realize what you are probably getting from the "bargains". |

I think this thread starting post is aiming for a bit of comic relief, but I will post my opinion as it's a way to kill time; If you speak Spanish to a decent degree, live in CR, look closer to Frank Valli than Frankenstein, and have a few brain cells left, then there is absolutely no reason to date a pro or even a semi-pro. You can scope out the malls and the fairs to meet a nice local gal. Sorry if this hits close to home, but the guys who live in CR and end up sticking closely to the "fruits of the gulch" are lacking in one of those areas. Its just easier, but definitely is gonna be higher in drama as the gal usually is going to be from a poor background who hasn't really worked out effective ways of conflict resolution.

What you are saying, I definitely agree with TimBones. And if you get away from the pros and actually feel chicas out about their families, values and what they think you will do better. And with decent looks, stylish clothes and a little game, you can find some very nice chicas at some of the nicer clubs in Escazu and Santa Ana. However, if you do want that middle of the road chica with a family situation, you will find much nicer outside the gulch... |

Yeah, I used to pitch that ad nueseum on here as that is what we used to do when we were deployed down here or flew in from Panama or Honduras for leave/ R & R back in the late eighties and early nineties, but guys either called me a lier or chided me for bringing up "that old chestnut"  (thought I had forgotten Pro ??)I thought maybe I was too old for that to happen to me now (I am 50), but at least in Guatemala I had some game as I met a sweet young thing who had a car, house and a job, but even good girls come with their own set of problems and she wanted to get married quick, by trying to get pregnant by forgoing birth control and not telling me; luckily, my sperm has slowed down. The other piece that no one talks about is that good girls are generally a lot more normal and hence, more boring. Less tendency to imbibe, talk trash, smoke, do wild sex (but not entirely ) and some guys really want that drama!! . I would encourage all these younger guys that are having bad times with having hookers as gfs to dump that and at least experiment with trying to find a regular chica from el campo or even near the university. |

That 50 is just a number my friend.. And WE make out of our numbers what we want to. I'm 46 and in the best shape of my life. Yeah, I know I'm not 26, but I dress decent and don't look like somebody's dad. I can still hold my own. Don't know you, but with your grasp on things, I imagine you do ok too. There are exceptions, but regardless of what most say, if you "date" a hooker or former hooker it is because that is the only choice. |

Tell that to my liver But seriously, the biggest key, (as I am sure you are aware) is knowing the language, but even that does not work all the time. If you look like Brad Pitt, you're gonna get laid, even if they don't know who Brad Pitt is. Guys generally don't know how lucky they are in their twenties and boy, would it be nice to do it all over again. And then there are guys that are always scheming; I had two friends that went to colleges that had recently changed from all girl to Co-ed, just because they knew they could get laid more!!  As far as dating a hooker being the only choice, I believe that if some of those guys applied themselves, they could do better; Case in point was a Monger that is still on the board and I went to a local fair outside SJ and he ended up chatting with a real sweet thing and got her number, and he spoke little Spanish; the key more than anything was having the self-confidence to do so. So, I would say, self-confidence, a genuine desire to date regular chicas, some knowledge of the language and a little game, although its funny how much macho Latinos get away with when it comes to "game" Anyway, that is my dime store psychiatrist opinion.
