Did anyone else in CR feel it. It was a 5.9 earthquake (October 8, 2010)? It was centered in Zarcero which is Alajuela Province, about 50 Km northwest of San José. I was in Alajuela the city; it did some serious shaking. |

The thing I noticed was that it seemed to last longer than most of them here do. Being on the 3rd floor, I felt it pretty good. It was strong enough that it emptied the building of all residents. Only the second time in 5 years one has shook the building hard enough for everyone to rush out of the building. I had just got out of the shower and it lasted long enough for me to put on a shirt, pants, and grab my shoes, keys, and passport before it stopped. Been listening to and reading too much crap about immirgration I guess when the first thing I thought about was getting my passport. |

I imagine in hotels all over town, the chicas were giving the standard dramatic performance of crying, shrieking and general panic. ![]() |

Felt it!! I was in the movie theater in San Pedro with a favorita. She screamed, as did the entire theater, and ran out, as did everyone else except me and another gringo ![]() ![]() ![]() Took me a few seconds to realize wtf it was (I'm from FLA!), but they all knew immediately. The floor seemed like it rolled pretty good for a few seconds, but didnt feel anything after. The movie continued after a few minutes ![]() |

In 1991 near Limon. 7.5 or 7.6 I think. SR Occurred on April 22, 1991. Variously reported as 7.6 and 7.7. Damage to the Atlantic railroad right of way was so severe service has never been restored. |

Brother Srilm is spot-on--wasn't that the one that destroyed the railroads? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ea ... Costa_Rica |
