With all the Scary Stuff I've heard over the last 4.5 years about Costa Rica "cracking down on Perpetual Tourist, I wonder , just how many of us thousands of CRT users have actually had a visa stamp for less than 90 days.

I only remember reading one post , from S1, about one of us CRT members getting a stamp for less than 90 days. And many other , "I heard a story", reports.

Hence , the poll.

Because nobody gives a shit. Most of us stay less than 30 days anyway. Maybe a poll on who stays 30 days or less or 30 days or more?

I am firmly in the " who gives a shit" category.

Returning in a week for my 13th visit this year. All were 90 days except one, which was for 15 days. The immigration officer asked how long I was staying, I told him a week & got the 15 day visa (@SJO). Have been asked again & have always said several weeks & gotten the 90 day visas. One problem could have been the excessive visas in the passport - my passport is 2 1/2 years old and I'm a third of the way through my second set of pages with many CR stamps.

BTW - the results of the poll showed up with no ability to take it.

I'm firmly in the Phuck em category. :D Like I said in another thread, as soon as they push, it won't take much nudging for me. Over 11 years, I've seen it go from a bargain to way overpriced. And if they are so stupid that they will spend their time and effort cracking down on perpetual tourists, while criminals have free rein, well hell, why would I want to be there!! I know the cheerleaders will grill me, but unless you have holdings and possessions that prevent you from leaving, don't look at it as a big deal.

The question is, where to go?

Three previous trips this years were all 90 day stamps - this trip is 30 days. I happened to get a female agent that must have been having a bad day. The immigration line was backed up almost to the entrance of the area. I was in line 45 minutes. She asked a bunch of questions no other agent had asked before.

It will still be a little while, but I could definitely see Colombia. Nica land for a while too. Maybe back to Europe. Wouldn't mind bouncing for a while... Have been in this one spot for 11 years.

+1

I was thinking this too as I have had a great time in Managua before but I wouldn't recommend someone newbie or without Spanish trying to navigate there without help .
For some reason I feel Nicaragua is more dangerous or at least would require more precaution.

Read not long ago Nicaragua is the 2nd poorest country in the Western Hemisphere behind Haiti. Did visit about a year ago & talked with a run-of-the-mill police officer. He earned $110 US per month. Also talked with a Lieutenant in the Fire service (bombero); he earned $130 per month. So....your money will go farther there AND there will be a lot of petty crime, graft & corruption. I did enjoy my time there though (have visited several times over the last few years).

The way the question was written an entire segment of the monger population is omitted, the permanent residents and citizens.

huh ?

Am I missing something here ? Do "permanent residents and citizens" even get a specific amount of 'days' on their passports ?

The idea or aim of this poll was to see how much time in country the average Gringo was getting at random on their passport.
