How many people have moved to CR and then back to the USA or Canada ?
1. I have never moved to Costa Rica 64%  64%  [ 23 ]
2. I moved to Costa Rica and live here more than half the year. 14%  14%  [ 5 ]
3. I have an apt or condo or house in Costa Rica and live there less then half the year. 6%  6%  [ 2 ]
4. I moved to Costa Rica with plans to stay but then moved back to the USA or Canada. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
5. I moved to Costa Rica and then moved to Colombia or another place that girls are available for $$$ 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
6. I bought instead of renting and I am happy with that decision. 3%  3%  [ 1 ]
7. I bought instead of renting and I am NOT happy with that decision. 6%  6%  [ 2 ]
8. I am happy to be renting here. 8%  8%  [ 3 ]

If you purchase, it depends on the value of your property. My friend's home is very expensive even by US standards. The Luxury Tax requires him to pay more taxes than he paid on an equivalent house in California which is supposed to be heavily taxed state.

The big difference is that in California he had good roads, fire and police protection, parks, libraries, waters, sewer, flood control and other services. Here, who knows where the money goes. I know where they says it is supposed to go but the reality may be totally different than the stated expectation.
