You will also need a copy of your entry stamp.

Yes that is actually the best thing to have as long as, like Skink stated, you have a copy of your entry stamp on the back. A few days ago when the police came in checking la Mansion, My friend and I both had just the credit card size laminated copy. NO problem, no one questioned the validity of using this, everything was fine. If confronted by the police, just remain calm, be relaxed (for the most part they are just doing their job), be polite, don't act arrogant, don't have an attitude and there will be no problem. If they were to give you a hassle over the copy and try to get you to "pay a fine" on the spot, tell them to take you to your hotel room and you will be glad to show them your actual passport which under the USA and CR treaty you are not required to carry while here (just the copy) OR they can take you in! In 99.999% of the cases they are not going to carry you in because they know they are in the wrong and they are just trying to get a 'bribe' out of you!! As long as guys continue to "fold" and pay the bribe, the "bad" cops will continue to try to extort money from us!

Exactly. Bad stuff happens to good guys if the majority cave to improperly exercised/illegal authority. Simple as that. Remember to not confront them directly--That will get a cop's back up anywhere--logic and calmness should prevail--including calmly asking for higher authority to step in.

Last time I was in town, the entry stamp didn't copy well, they actually had to write in the date. I also carry a copy of my boarding pass.

Have recommend carrying your boarding pass for years. It is better then the copy of your entry stamp, which you also have, which could have been copied from someone elses passport. Your boarding pass stub shows your name flight number and date.

More honest information never hurts. I think I remember reading a while ago, I think it was Orange, but it came in handy one time, in the parque. If you are a tourist, just so happens you want to hang glide your clean sack in a ticas mouth, well, glide away! But, paperwork is of most importance, to a sackster, let it hang
