A very nasty guy has likely fled to Costa Rica from Panama, after bodies were discovered buried on land he stole from the deceased. He's very nasty and dangerous - don't even consider talking to him, following him or anything. |

I'm guessing the pic was of the alleged psycho killer but a caption would have been helpful. I will now avoid any gringo with blond hair and dimples--anywhere. Baseball bat at the ready. |

He has a Netherlands passport, so I would guess he has a distinguishable accent. |

Hey GoodDayJohn, I've just been scanning this story. They have established that he is Dutch? I had read where he had a US, Dutch and Mexican passports, but didn't dig any further. |

He is American, they found his US passport at his residence. The passport he is using now is fake. They also believe he is with his wife/girlfriend who is American. Hope they catch him soon. Regards, 911 Driver |

I'll be moving there in January, if not sooner. Gonna live in Subic for a month and travel around, seeing if I'd rather live somewhere else, like Cebu or La Union. Dude looks scary. Like a big dumb biker type. Most serial killers are physically unassuming and unimpressive looking but I would not mess with this dude. How the hell is he still on the loose crossing borders, staying in hotels and driving? He really stands out in Central America looking like a big oafish viking mofo. |

Fusionx, nice photos of PI, I lived there for a short time while in the military. Brought back some great memories like 911 Driver. Looks like the bar scene around the old Naval base has really died down since I left in the early 90's. Funny, about 2 years ago I spoke to a guy who owned a bunch of those bars (name escapes me now) here in CR. Last time I spoke to him he was still operating them traveling to PI from CR. Good stuff, I hope you really enjoy your time there and the girls! |

I noticed another interesting tidbit in reading all the various reports. It turns out that some of his victims may not have been so innocent themselves after all: "Also among the victims in Panama is the Watson Family who disappeared shortly before transferring control of their holdings to Cortez. It now turns out that the Watson family is actually the Salem family. Michael Francis Salem is a convicted drug trafficker who eluded justice in Flordia for over thirty years after escaping and kidnapping law enforcement officers in the 1980. As Don Winner put it, “He survived all of that, until he ran into “Wild Bill†and Jane Cortezâ€. This just goes to show how shady some elements of the ex-pat community can be. |

You got that right. Panama (and other expat locales) are full of scumbags who are avoiding or evading something somewhere. Of course, there are MANY very good people - far more than the scumbags. But you rarely see them, as they live their lives like "normal" people.. hehe.. I tend to not be "normal", and spend a lot of time in the seedy areas. Their "MO" is to find properties being offered for sale through the Internet, kill the owner, tell everyone they "paid cash" and then later cash out and sell the property to someone else, and then move on.
