A very nasty guy has likely fled to Costa Rica from Panama, after bodies were discovered buried on land he stole from the deceased.

The details concerning Costa Rica are here: http://www.panama-guide.com/article.php ... 3135617327

The same article gives a good overview of the entire story. The real meat is in several articles you will see on the front page of the site.

If you see this guy, contact the CR authorities or Interpol. He's very nasty and dangerous - don't even consider talking to him, following him or anything.

I'm guessing the pic was of the alleged psycho killer but a caption would have been helpful. I will now avoid any gringo with blond hair and dimples--anywhere. Baseball bat at the ready.

You are guessing right, Jazzbo. By digging a little deeper into the newspaper, you'll find more pictures of him. He has a Netherlands passport, so I would guess he has a distinguishable accent.

Hey GoodDayJohn, I've just been scanning this story. They have established that he is Dutch? I had read where he had a US, Dutch and Mexican passports, but didn't dig any further.

He is American, they found his US passport at his residence. The passport he is using now is fake. They also believe he is with his wife/girlfriend who is American. Hope they catch him soon.

Glad you liked them.

I'll be moving there in January, if not sooner. Gonna live in Subic for a month and travel around, seeing if I'd rather live somewhere else, like Cebu or La Union. I guarentee I will not live in Angeles City. heh.

Dude looks scary. Like a big dumb biker type. Most serial killers are physically unassuming and unimpressive looking but I would not mess with this dude. How the hell is he still on the loose crossing borders, staying in hotels and driving? He really stands out in Central America looking like a big oafish viking mofo.

Fusionx, nice photos of PI, I lived there for a short time while in the military. Brought back some great memories like 911 Driver. Looks like the bar scene around the old Naval base has really died down since I left in the early 90's. Funny, about 2 years ago I spoke to a guy who owned a bunch of those bars (name escapes me now) here in CR. Last time I spoke to him he was still operating them traveling to PI from CR. Good stuff, I hope you really enjoy your time there and the girls!

Here is a link to a story on their arrest ""Pair of Suspected Serial Killers Caught Near Mouth of Sarapiquí River":
http://www.panama-guide.com/article.php/caught-in-nicaragua
However, it should also be noted that article comes with this preface "Warning: Police officials in Costa Rica have said the information contained in this report is incorrect."

I noticed another interesting tidbit in reading all the various reports. It turns out that some of his victims may not have been so innocent themselves after all:

"Also among the victims in Panama is the Watson Family who disappeared shortly before transferring control of their holdings to Cortez.

It now turns out that the Watson family is actually the Salem family. Michael Francis Salem is a convicted drug trafficker who eluded justice in Flordia for over thirty years after escaping and kidnapping law enforcement officers in the 1980.

As Don Winner put it, “He survived all of that, until he ran into “Wild Bill” and Jane Cortez”.

This just goes to show how shady some elements of the ex-pat community can be.

You got that right. Panama (and other expat locales) are full of scumbags who are avoiding or evading something somewhere.

Of course, there are MANY very good people - far more than the scumbags. But you rarely see them, as they live their lives like "normal" people.. hehe..

I tend to not be "normal", and spend a lot of time in the seedy areas. I see my fill of con artists, theives, and sometimes just plain idiots.

More on the capture - it's been confirmed now: http://www.panama-guide.com/article.php ... 6145247707

By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - Government officials from both Costa Rica and Panama have confirmed the capture this morning of the fugitives William "Wild Bill" Adolfo Cortez and his wife Jane Seana Cortez. The pair were caught as they made their way down a river in a hired boat along the border area between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. As they approached a checkpoint, "Wild Bill" threw their hired boat driver into the water and grabbed the tiller in an effort to escape. They ran smack into a heavily armed Nicaraguan army patrol and were arrested without a struggle. Right now Costa Rican officials are scrambling to get to this remote area to coordinate the transfer of the fugitives to Costa Rican soil, for their eventual return to Panama for prosecution. Right now, this information looks good. I'll believe it when I can take a picture of these animals myself.

Thank You! Everyone who provided information, background, photos, tips, details, or whatever, thank you all very much. By now it should be obvious that these people were caught thanks to the information you provided. They tried to haul ass once the news broke last Tuesday when the bodies of Cher and Bo were found, and the news reporting made it hotter and hotter for them, to the point that they were even recognized this morning by the guy who rented the cabin to them last night in a very remote area in the middle of nowhere. Once again, tips from the public given to the media and police resulted in the relatively rapid capture of two very bad actors. Well done. You guys rock...

Everyone in Costa Rica should read this one: http://www.panama-guide.com/article.php ... 6172621450

By DON WINNER for Panama-Guide.com - I just received a chilling email. There are apparently dozens of foreigners who are "missing" in Costa Rica. It is now known that William and Jane Cortez were in Costa Rica, at least as early as mid-2005, and maybe before. They came to Panama and murdered the Brown family in approximately mid-November 2007. So - where were they during their first run through Costa Rica? Where did they stay? Where did they live? Their "MO" is to find properties being offered for sale through the Internet, kill the owner, tell everyone they "paid cash" and then later cash out and sell the property to someone else, and then move on. All of you members of the Gringo community up there in Costa Rica - it is now time to put your thinking caps on and track their history up there. Get busy...
