A friend wants to have anthroscopy (orthoscopy) to repair a torn miniscus on her knee. Dr. David Aizenman at CIM is the physician she is thinking about having him do the work. Does anyone know him or the hospital?

Any advice will help.

Hospital CIMA along with Clinica Biblica and Hospital Catolica are the three accredited private Hospitals in Costa Rica. CIMA is the most expensive. Have no info on the surgeon.

As a follow up concerning Hospital CIMA. There was an article in this mornings AM Costa Rica about President Chinchilla husband falling and breaking his hip on Sunday. Obviously he could be treated at any hospital in or out of the country. He was airlifted to CIMA for surgery. Might give you an idea as to the quality of the hospital.

What would his title be? "First man"? "Laura's bitch"?

Clinica Biblica has an outstanding Extrajanero Department. When I was due to see an Orthopedist there, Dr. Oeding, Ms. Starline was with me every step of the way. Mentioned in case you needed a second opinion; and I contacted these folks through Brother WordWiz's company http://www.healthtraveltours.com

Just a cautionary note...one should ask about MIRSA infection rates and procedures to minimize infection in the hospital. It can really screw up recovery. And while CIMA is a good hospital, it does all depend on the doctor.

That "MIRSA infection rate" Whosear mentioned is the Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections found in hospitals and other places where there are open wounds, weakened immune systems and/or chronic exposure to it. It's darn hard to treat and really nasty stuff. That rate is truly a number to key on. For more on this:

I highly recommend Clinica Biblica. Orthopedics is a specialty of theirs. Let me know if I can help in any way, I know the people at the international desk very well. I will be there in aug for several procedures. Outstanding care.
