So I have been checking the weather the last few days and the forecast has been rain, rain, rain and more rain. Anyone on location can shed light on the level of action? What spots has more action during the day/night? Is the Green Season more monger friendly = less travelers or less friendly = less girls. Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks all.

hey I leave in 5 days, so our trips will overlap a few days....don't sweat the rain !! most days its perfect from 6am to 2 or 3pm then rains like a mf just take a taxi during the day if your going to a mp or shopping, you can look to see how long you have until it starts pouring, where are you staying ? go to sportmens in the afternoon and sit in the back at the open dining area .....its great to watch the rain from that area ...while looking over some tica's

I think you want to know whether or not the rain impacts the activities.

During the green season it is usually clear in the AM just like Chilimike said. Then it does rain most days beginning sometime around noon. It also depends on where you are. The other day it was raining like heck while I was standing in my kitchen. I left and walked out the front door, some 20 meters away and there was no rain. Go figure. Right now (5:30 PM) it is cloudy but not raining. As far as affecting the activities, there is virtually no impact.

The advice about hanging out on the back patio of the SL watching the rain is great advice. It is really a nice place to be on a rainy afternoon.

Chilimike - staying at SL for the first 2 nites, 8/29 & 8/30. Not sure why I am going to Jaco during rain season then. Haha. Oh well, figure I check everything out first time around then I wouldn't have to wonder on the following trips.

Well let's hope less gringos during this season and more ticas to fight for the ones that are there. :D

It's all about quality not quantity right guys?

For mongers anytime is play time.

But special days like Memorial Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, Super Bowl Weekend and non-family or religious oriented holidays are really cool. Lots of guys show up and there is always a party.

But during family – Christian oriented holidays like Easter and Christmas people leave town. While San Jose does not become the ghost town it used to with nearly all the stores closed and people gone, there is still a major exodus. But these days the American owned stores remain open and not so many people leave town. There is still major travel but not as extensive as it was.

During Christmas a large number of the Nicaraguans journey north to be with family. The border crossing can have up to a five hour wait as they journey north before the holidays and then south after. Others simply stay at home preparing for and celebrating the holidays. Easter is the same way. The number of quality service providers just before and just after can become very lean during those periods.

And to screw things up the government has its annual series of raids on MPs a week or so before the Holy Days so they can demonstrate what “religious” devotes they are. Of course they know when the raids will be so they know when not to be there.

You'll be fine and there are cheap umbrellas available at just about any corner in the downtown area. Late afternoon, when it usually rains, is a good time to snooze and recharge for me.

Example, today (Thursday at 5:00 PM) it is raining really hard in an called Sabanilla which is east of downtown about four miles. I won't know what it is like in the gulch for another two hours or so, but my guess is that it is raining hard there too.

I just talked to one of my k*ds who is about five miles east of where I am at, further up the mountain (west slope of Irazu) and it is cloudy there but not raining.

Now it is raining so hard on the metal roof that I could barely hear the voice at the other end of the line.

The REAL rainy season picks up in September. October and November are typically the rainiest months, definitley the low point for tourism, hence the "Green Season" moniker. :D

Rain does not really affect chica activities. Bring a good umbrella, the ones in CR are garbage.

I like August despite the rain, I will be there on the 29th.
