Post subject:  online translators

I just found this link which is pretty useful for translating e-mails or even for use on instant messenger programs like MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, and AIM. The transalation is fairly good and easy to use. http://www.paralink.com/

I figure for those who do not speak a lot of spanish, it will help you communicating when your tica is asking for money!!!

Post subject:  Another Link

Here's another link. This one is free for translating a paragraph or two. Great for sending questions via email to non-English speaking establishments. When (and IF) you get a response, you can go back to the site and paste in the email and get a translation back from Spanish to English.

Thanks for the link.

I just e-mailed a buddy of mine translated to spanish.
Our accepted greeting is, "What's up my cracker?" It translates back to,"What increases my cookie?"

Gotta look out for those things I guess.

Again, thanks.

It's funny to translate english to spanish and then translate the same back to english. WTF

I heard it this way
Concern: The first time you can't do it the second time.
Terror: The second time you can't do it the first time.

Be careful. I used a free one to translate my buddies e-mail. It translated to "I never want to see you again. Lose my number." He had a tico read it and it said "why haven't you called? I miss you."

hey Scubabum, who in the world di you get them to do the translation for you? Those two phrases have nothing in common. It sounds like the tico was full of it or thinking it would be funny when your buddy calls that girl back and she lets him have it.

Here is what the spanish translation is for, "I never want to see you again. Lose my number." = "Yo nunca quiero te ver mas. Olvidas mi numero"

As to, "why haven't you called? I miss you" would be something like, "porque no me llami? te extrano". Oviously they are other ways to say these thing with the same meaning but in general these are the translation.

For obvious reasons, online translators and most translators will not translate slangs or sayings. Some of the better ones that offer definitions and give you a list of different words that could be used will do a better job but they will still be a lot of faults.

Here are my suggestions if you write a tica using the translator. Keep your sentences simple and dont use slang. Good luck
