The last post by Orange has several unlocked phone suggestions. Any quad band GSM phone should work as long as it's unlocked. I don't know about Walmart, though.

Amazon is ok too. I found their prices a bit higher, but there's no risk like with Ebay. The following models will all work in CR, they are either tri or quad-band.

Motorola V180
Motorola V551
Motorola Razr
Motorola L6
Motorola L7

As long as it works on the 1800Mhz band, any unlocked GSM phone will ok.

I have purchased several phones on eBay and all have been as described.

Make sure it is a quad band if you travel to other than CR. Also i would recommend getting a qwerty keyboard, especially if you drink (like I do). It makes sending messages much, much easier.

My recommendation would be a Samsung i607 (around $35.00) on e-bay. I would buy it locked, and then buy the unlock code also sold on e-bay. The locked phones seem to go for about $20-$30 less, the code is under three dollars, and they send it to you in a couple of hours. Even a computer moron like me was able to unlock one.

From this link you can also type other phones in the search area.

health & happiness to all............

A member PM'd me about this phone. He stated that he couldn't find a new one for under $70.00. I should have mentioned that the $ 35.00 is for a used phone. I have bough a couple and both worked very well, with no major scrtches, or marks.

Sorry I should have made this more clear.

If it's unlocked and works on the 1800Mhz band, it will work. However, Columbia uses 850/1900, so if it's a dual-band (as cheapo suggests), it won't.

You should never expect a chica to show appreciation for anything you give her.
