Exchange rate has been climbing all day. Two days ago it was 503 for a dollar. Tonight at about 8:30 Banco Costa Rica posted a 525 to a dollar. Great news for us whose income is in dollars. :D

CLIMB BABY CLIMB!

A lot of strange stuff went on in many financial markets today, Cinco de Mayo... coincidence? Could be the tequila, or maybe it's because it's also Willie Mays' birthday. We will hope this surge in the dollar/colon thing stays around and isn't just teasing us.

I don't think that is it. I believe they heard the cheap Greek from Chicago is coming and they better not change from the 550 he had last trip. :D

hope it continues

The crisis in Greece could have a big effect on the Euro. That could be good news for those of us who get paid in dollars.

I got "short" the EURO when it got down to about 1.31 by using ETF (Proshares) EUO. Near-Term objective is around 1.21 - 1.23. U.S.D. starting to look better and better, at least for the time being...

Pretty aggressive objective. Actually, I hope the dollar takes another hit in CR. At least until I sell what I have for sale. Then, hope it hits the sky again.

Bondtrader: I bet the Euro is trading around par by the end of the year. Our mkt is rolling over again, demand for dollars will rise relative to assets and other currencies..IMHO

I agree the $$/Euro is headed much lower....parity? maybe...maybe not but there's pretty good potential for still making some scratch being short the Euro.

Another trade I like (also ETF) is owning TBT (short the long bond). I got in at just over $40 the day the DOW took that 1000 point drop. Have a decent gain in it so trying to decide whether to take short-term trading gain or add to it and stick with it for the longer-term. I can't put my finger on the timing but I KNOW that we are getting closer and closer to the point where being short the long-term will be a HOME RUN.

I got it at $23. However, I sold it long ago. Still made almost a double.
