I am planning on spending some amount of time with a favorita. I am thinking that a nice gift to her as a propina would be a smartphone. Certainly not worthwhile if I don't get something that won't be a hit with her.

It is my understanding that 3g is now available in San Jose. How would this affect the choice?

Seriously though, aren't smartphones really expensive? Here they are expensive even with whatever contract we have to sign. Usually for 2 years. Without the contract, the phones are even more expensive.

Features they want are camera and mp3 capability, they don't need internet, be sure it is unlocked.

Then you don't need to waste money on a smart phone, my LG has both. She probably won't appreciate it anyway.

Be very careful. A few years ago I bought my little novia a simple Motorola Razr flip phone, unlocked, from Newegg for about $80. It was NIB. ICE would not activate it because she didn't have a CR receipt showing it wasn't stolen. Wound up buying a black market receipt & solved the problem, but it was a pain in the ass & cost $50 for the necessary "paperwork".

I am in now way condoning bringing a phone to a chica, however, you don't need to go to all the trouble if she already has a GSM line (SIM chip).

Go on Amazon and look at the LG Cookie (KP500).
