Well the Young Republicans Abroad probably have a big whoop-de-do...

There's a picnic in the morning that has some kind of affiliation with the US embassy. A few of the bars will be serving free hot dogs. You might check the Sportsmen's website, they might do something. For the locals its just another day. Might be some fireworks from the top of the Holiday Inn.

Here's some pix of how Independence Day is celebrated in Costa Rica--CR Independence Day, that is. Why would anyone think OUR Independence Day means anything special to anybody else is a puzzle to me. Probably especially galling to the British Embassy:

Let me un-puzzle you! I hate when that happens. I just wanted to know if any special events are planned by our like minded brothers while down there! i.e. A 4th of July party at the SL!

Regardless of who celebrates what, July 4th weekend is a GREAT time in SJO. A good number of CRT'ers go that weekend and the talent is as good as always! I have been 4-5 times over the last 8 years and have always had good times.

Hotel M does have a party every 4th of July. There are a lot of guys in town, so book your room asap. It does get frigging really crowded, it's a good time to catch up with Bro's you have met on past trips. I have found it is also a good time to pull out numbers and e-mails and make appts. All in all I try to avoid US holidays down there.
Regards, 911 Driver
Also you could run into crews such as the one starting to "peter" into SJO as I type   :!: :!: :P :P :P
