Gentlemen:
I have received numerous PM's with the request that we add a political discussion forum to the VIP Forum Section of the site. Wow is that a hot topic or what? LOL.
Bottom line I am not about to moderate what will obviously be hotly debated and volatile section but keeping with within the VIP forum would at least keep it to persons who can't hide behind a persona so to speak.

Bottom line is I full expect to there will be a lot of debate on the subject but with enough votes I will leave it up to you to decide.

I have long been against this forum to have any place to debate politics but obviously it gives some fresh life to those who just can't wait to fly off the handle and it does create buzz.

Again this will not be MODERATED unless it violates the rules of the forum for attacks - etc where the same banning procedures will be in place.

Your Vote will be the difference.

VOTE NOW!

I voted no. I've lost countless friends over the past 5 years---I would hate to lose more. Very few people share my political views and I am not afraid to defend my opinions.
Of the last 3 last presidents, who do you think that I think is the greatest president since Reagan?

I voted YES. Not so much so we could discuss the differences between a Republican and a Democrat but more over so we could discuss issues that matter. Our political system in my mind is broken and politicians in general are sucka**es. I say give the people the opportunity to voice their views. The people that don't have an opinion or prefer not to talk about it...Don't have to.

A political issue that may deserve some discussion would be the initiative here in Florida to get Medical Marijuana on the ballot this fall. There may be a great many people who would be interested in hearing about this effort. You certainly won't see it in main stream media. 16 states now have such legislation and others are considering it.

The only way to get social change is to talk about the issues. When we sweep them under the carpet they don't go away, there just out of site. Less than half the eligible voters, vote. The vast majority of us sit and bitch and let the "moral minority" dictate how we live our lives. Forums such as this can allow us the opportunity to find out what is on the political horizon and perhaps give us an opportunity to effect change in a world that is in dire need of change.

KenLee and that's my unpopular opinion!

I think having it is almost a necessity, not for the guys that want politcal discussions but for the ones that don't. No matter how often Admin 1 quashes the threads that get political new ones always pop up. At least if there is a place for it, it can be contained and those that aren't interested can avoid.

That's kind of what I was thinking. If a political forum is created (I don't really care either way), then those who wish can simply not click on it.

I agree, but disagree with the above posts.

IMO, it would be just like the implementation of the "Smack Talk Section". It's supposed to be a place for everyone to go and bust chops, but regardless of that section, everyone STILL busts everyone else's chops in all the other sections as well (myself included).

Or the "Novia Section". Even with this section, members still talk about their novia's, favorita's, etc throughout the entire board in different threads, not just in that particular section.

Then there's the Massage Parlor section. There's discussions about MP's and the MP girls and MP prices in just about every section of the forum, not just the Massage Parlor Section.

Basically, I think that - with the implementation of another section of the forum (politics), that will not stop guys from getting off topic in other sections and throwing politics into the conversation. If the history of this board proves anything, this will stand true.

I voted "no", but that's just my stance. If the majority of the membership wants to go that direction, so be it. But for the record, I don't think that a new "Political" section would keep politics out of all the other threads. In addition, we've seen how hot and heavy some of the past "political debates" have become, and that's WITHOUT politics allowed on the board. With a new section, you're just opening up the flood gates!

Just my two cents....

Perhaps you should moderate your post by changing "We" to "some of us". Not sure how many you think you speak for but I certainly am not one of them.

The Rush Limbaugh tread, by and large, contained some very interesting dialogue and brought out a lot of interesting points. Those who were not interested or offended by the thread could simply not read it. And any thread that would lead to Circus posting again, whether you agreed or disagreed with his view point, is certainly a plus for CRT.

No argument there. My point was and is you do not speak for all the members of CRT as the use of the word "we" indicates. A total of 23 votes out of a membership of over 19,000 is hardly representative.

At this point we have 66 views and only 24 votes......... 5 for yes 19 No. That pretty much says most people don't care one way or the other, doesn't it? LOL

I voted no because of the consequences of such discussions. Someone may get upset with another person over their expressed opinions, causing them to have a negative opinion of that person. Whereas, if he met that person in the gulch, he may find the person to be a very good guy that could be very helpful to him. I have very strong political views, but I usually don't express them until I've communicated with a person enough to get an idea of his views.

I am not an VIP member ... yet.
I am planing to become before my trip in May.

One point of clarification concerning this statement (I hope I am reading it wrong):
** but keeping with within the VIP forum would at least keep **
** it to persons who can't hide behind a persona so to speak. **

Is one's identity disclosed to the board members upon signing up?
Again, I hope I read that wrong.

Identity isn't disclosed but you can't post in VIP unless you are one. This way if someone disagree's and wants to be a douche about it, they have to use their true log in name when retorting..

In the general section anyone can post, so you can create a new non-vip screen name and post (thus hiding)
